According to [[Konami]], [[Xyz Monster]]s have traveled to [[Earth (planet)|Yuma's dimension]] using an "Overlay Network" from the other side of a black hole.<ref name="SD11">{{citeweb|url=http://www.yugioh-card.com/en/products/starter2011.html|title=Starter Deck: Dawn of the Xyz|publisher=[[Konami]]}}</ref> As [[Duelist]]s [[Xyz Summon]], a portal appears in which the [[Xyz Material|Overlay Unit]]s (in energy form) enter. The portal explodes, and the Xyz Monster unveils itself. All Xyz Monsters, with special exceptions like the "[[Number]]s", are Xyz Summoned through a red, spiraling portal. The Overlay Units then become orbs of light which orbit the Xyz Monster. When [[detach]]ed by the [[player]], the orbs are absorbed by the Xyz Monster in its own specific way. <ref name="ep5">{{episode|Yu-Gi-Oh!
