According to [[Konami]], [[Xyz Monster]]s have traveled to [[Earth (planet)|Yuma's dimension]] from the other side of a black hole.<ref name="SD11">{{citeweb|url=http://www.yugioh-card.com/en/products/starter2011.html|title=Starter Deck: Dawn of the Xyz|publisher=[[Konami]]}}</ref> When a [[Duelist]] performs an [[Xyz Summon]], the [[Xyz Material]] monsters transform into streaks of energy, and an Overlay Network appears in the form of a portal that the energy streaks enter. The portal then explodes, and the newly Summoned Xyz Monster unveils itself. <ref name="ep1">{{episode|Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL|1|ref}}</ref> Most [[Xyz Monster]]s are Xyz Summoned through a red, spiral-shaped portal; however, several Xyz Monsters use specially designed Overlay Networks with though "[[Neo Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon]]" utilizes a different color pink one<ref name="ep43" /> and"[[Shark Caesar]]" a blue.<ref name="ep91">{{episode|Yu-Gi-Oh! For exampleref> After being Summoned, the Xyz Materials then become [[Xyz Material|Overlay Unit]]s that orbit the Xyz Monster as orbs of light.<ref name="ep1" /> The "[[Number]]" monsters (along with a few others) all use a yellow, galaxy-like portal. <ref name="ep2">{{episode|Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL|13|ref}}</ref> In addition, the sealed form of the Summoned "Number" appears out of the portal first, before transforming itself into its true form. ZEXAL|48|ref}}</ref> do not have sealed forms and simply emerge complete from the Overlay Network; others such as "[[Number 9: Dyson Sphere]]" are too large to ever fit in an Overlay Network and instead materialize in space<ref name="ep55">{{episode|Yu-Gi-Oh!
