[[File:RushDuelField.png|right|400px|A ''Yu-Gi-Oh! Rush Duel'' field]]
Being a derivative of the ''[[Yu-Gi-Oh! Official Card Game|OCG]]'', ''Rush Duel'' shares similarities with it, with some notable alterations and additions. Differences that ''Rush Duel'' was explicitely advertised as having include:* Players can [[Normal Summon]]/[[Set]] as many monsters as they want in a single turn. [[Level 5 Monster Cards|Level 5]] and higher monsters still follow the same [[Tribute Summon]] requirements as the ''TCG/OCG''.
* Players start the Duel with four cards in their hand. During their [[Draw Phase]], the turn player draws cards until they have five cards in their hand. If the player has five or more cards in their hand, they draw one card.
** The player who goes first draws one card on the first turn.
** Players have no [[hand size limit]].
** The player who goes first draws one card on the first turn.
** If a player would draw, but lacks enough cards (e.g. the player has four or less cards in their Deck, and no cards in their hand during the Draw Phase), that player loses the Duel.
* ''Rush Duel'' has a Monster Card type currently exclusive to it: [[Maximum Monster]]s, which are composed of three specific monsters that can be [[Maximum Summon]]ed as a single monster.
Other rule differences include:
* The field resembles that of [[Speed Duel]]s. Each player has 3 [[Monster Zone]]s, 3 [[Spell & Trap Zone]]s, and a [[Field Zone]] on their field. There is an are no [[Pendulum Zone]]s or [[Extra Deck Monster Zone]], but no s.* Some cards are specifically marked as [[Pendulum ZoneLegend Card]]s or . A Deck can contain a maximum of 1 Legend Card of each card type ([[Extra Monster ZoneCard|Monster]], [[Spell Card|Spell]], and [[Trap Card|Trap]]).<ref name="legend">{{cite web | url = https://ygorganization.com/thatfeelwhennoblueeyesultimategirlfriend/ | title = <nowiki>[Rush Duels]Blue-Eyes White Dragon and Legend Cards</nowiki> | author = NeoArkadia | publisher = YGOrganization | date = March 6, 2020 | accessdate = March 6, 2020}}</ref><ref name="YGOrg 10-31-22">{{cite web | url = https://ygorganization.com/rush-duel-change-to-how-legends-work/ | title = <nowiki>[RUSH DUEL]Change To How Legends Work</nowiki> | author = NeoArkadia | website = The Organization | date = October 31, 2022 | accessdate = October 31, 2022}}</ref> A player's[[Side Deck]] can contain any number of Legend Cards.<ref name="galaxycup">{{cite web | url = https://www.konami.com/yugioh/rushduel/event/galaxy-cup/ | title = <nowiki>Yu-Gi-Oh! * [[Spell Card]]s include [[Normal Spell Card]]s, [[Field Spell Card]]s, and [[Equip Spell Card]]s. The only [[Trap Card]]s are [[Normal Trap Card]]s.
** [[Quick-Play Spell Card]]s have been imported from the ''TCG''/''OCG'' (such as "[[Silver's Cry (Rush Duel)|Silver's Cry]]"), in which case they became Normal Spells. * [[Fusion Monster]]s appear; however their Japanese name is written with the English word "Fusion" (「フュージョン」 ''Fyūjon'') instead of the Japanese ''Yūgō'' (「{{Ruby|融|ゆう}}{{Ruby|合|ごう}}」). Additionally, the primary method of Fusion Summoning card is through the Spell Card "[[Fusion (Rush Duel)|Fusion]]" instead of the usual "[[Polymerization]]", with "[[Polymerization (Rush Duel)|Polymerization]]" serving as , which becomes a [[Legend Card]].** Some Level 9 Fusion Monsters have new [[Type]]s not present in the ''TCG''/''OCG'', presented as "fusions" of the Types of their [[Fusion Material]]s. These Fusion Monsters can have [[Multi-Choice Effect]]s, allowing the player to choose between one of two bulleted effects (●) that have the same activation requirement.* [[Flip Summon]] does not exist, with imported ''TCG''/''OCG'' cards that mention them (such as "[[Trap Hole (Rush Duel)|Trap Hole]]") having the term retroactively removed from their card texts.* Monster Every card can only have one effect, and monster effects on the field can be activated only once per turn while face-up on the field,<ref name="rushrules"/> similar to a card in the ''TCG/OCG'' stating "[[Once per turn]]". This also applies to [[Multi-Choice Effect]]s.** Summoning conditionsEffects that would apply outside the field, such as well as alternate cards that [[Changes own name|change their own name conditions can still apply ]] while in hand and the [[Graveyard respectively]], are turned into [[Condition]]s.
* Card effects list [[activation condition]]s and [[cost]]s on a separate line (indicated by "[REQUIREMENT]") from the rest of the effect for easier understanding.
* A card's [REQUIREMENT] and [EFFECT] are treated as being resolved simultaneously. If either the [REQUIREMENT] or [EFFECT] of the last used card meets the activation requirement of a Trap Card, that Trap can be activated without [[missing the timing]].
** Summoning conditions as well as Fusion Materials are listed above [REQUIREMENT] and [EFFECT].
** There are three types of monster effects; basic Effects, [[Continuous Effect]]s, and [[Multi-Choice Effect]]s; in the latter two cases, the type of monster effect is indicated by labelled on the card text. The basic Effects and Multi-Choice Effects function like [[Ignition Effect]]s in the ''TCG''/''OCG''.* [[Chain]]s do not occur. If two or more [[Trap Card]]s meet activation requirementsat the same time, only one can be activated. The non-[[turn player]] chooses first whether or not to activate a Trap Card. If they do not, the turn player can then choose whether or not to activate a Trap Card.
* Phases progress in the following order: [[Draw Phase]], [[Main Phase]], [[Battle Phase]], [[End Phase]]. (There is no [[Standby Phase]] or [[Main Phase 2]].)<ref name="rushrules">{{cite web | url = https://ygorganization.com/duelingaroundatthespeedofsound/ | title = <nowiki>[Rush Duel] Game Play Information and Yuga's Ace!</nowiki> | author = NeoArkadia | publisher = YGOrganization | date = February 16, 2020 | accessdate = February 16, 2020}}</ref>
* [[Tribute|Tributing]] is exclusive to [[Tribute Summon]], with imported ''TCG''/''OCG'' cards that mention them (such as "[[Cannon Soldier (Rush Duel)|Cannon Soldier]]") having the term retroactively replaced with Sending "sending from the field to the Graveyard " in their card texts.* [[Discard|Discarding]] does not exist, with imported ''TCG''/''OCG'' cards that mention them (such as "[[Tribute to The Doomed (Rush Duel)|Tribute to The Doomed]]") having the term retroactively replaced with send "sending from the hand to the Graveyard " in their card texts.* [[Quick-Play Spell Card]]s do not exist, all Quick-Play Spell Cards from the [[OCG]] (such as "[[Silver's Cry (Rush Duel)|Silver's Cry]]") are imported as [[Normal Spell Card]]s. *ATK/DEF values of [[?]] and ATK/DEF with ending in 50 do not exist, as such, cards monsters imported from the ''TCG''/''OCG '' that have ? ATK/DEF (such as "[[Maju Garzett (Rush Duel)|Maju Garzett]] having ) get 0 in its ATK 0 insteadplace, while cards monsters with ATK/DEF with ending in 50 instead receiving receive retrains with more 50 ATK/DEF or different valuesrounded stats rather than being imported directly. *Halving does not exist, the first imported card from the OCG to mention this with e.g. "[[Time Wizard (Rush Duel)|Time Wizard]]" has dealing damage to its effect damage using controller equal to the full total ATK of all the destroyed monsters ion calling the coin toss wrong, instead of halved when half of that like it does in the coin called wrong''TCG''/''OCG''. However, doubling still exists. * Some cards are specifically marked as [[Legend Card]]s. A Deck can contain a maximum of 1 Legend Card of each card type ([[Monster Card|Monster]], [[Spell Card|Spell]], and [[Trap Card|Trap]]).<ref name="legend">{{cite web | url = https://ygorganization.com/thatfeelwhennoblueeyesultimategirlfriend/ | title = <nowiki>[Rush Duels] Blue-Eyes White Dragon and Legend Cards</nowiki> | author = NeoArkadia | publisher = YGOrganization | date = March 6, 2020 | accessdate = March 6, 2020}}</ref><ref name="YGOrg 10-31-22">{{cite web | url = https://ygorganization.com/rush-duel-change-to-how-legends-work/ | title = <nowiki>[RUSH DUEL] Change To How Legends Work</nowiki> | author = NeoArkadia | website = The Organization | date = October 31, 2022 | accessdate = October 31, 2022}}</ref> A player's [[Side Deck]] can contain any number of Legend Cards.<ref name="galaxycup">{{cite web | url = https://www.konami.com/yugioh/rushduel/event/galaxy-cup/ | title = <nowiki>Yu-Gi-Oh!
