Archetype[edit]

I'm not sure if we should treat 'Emissary of Darkness' as an archetype. This seems to me much more like the good and old manga wording just saving some space - instead of saying "Summon Gorz and Kaien", it says "Summon the two Emissaries of Darkness" (= Gorz and Kaien), I don't think it's "two 'Emissary of Darkness' monsters". It's referring to two different cards by a portion of their name though. I don't really see how the way it's written is distinct from an archetype. There are several of TCG/OCG archetypes with almost no members (for example, the "Dark Magician Girl" archetype and the "Skyblaster" archetype), and there are TCG/OCG archetypes which exist to handle cards in the same way (e.g. "Exodius the Ultimate Forbidden Lord" handling "Forbidden One", "Destiny Board" handling "Spirit Message").
This is different to the manga calling cards by a nickname in a card lore, because it affects two cards with different names. --SnorlaxMonster 17:20, January 10, 2016 (UTC)
I'm not using "few members" as an argument, but I definitely find this a "nickname" case. It's calling Kaien and Gorz "the Emissaries of Darkness", they are a duo. Also, from both Yugi's verbal explanation and the fact that Gorz and Kaien are the only "Emissary of Darkess" monsters, I deduce that the card Summons specifically "Gorz" and "Kaien", not "two Emissary of Darkness monsters". When Yugi Summons them against Masumi, he says "When the player is in crsis, the two dark messengers rush to his side! Behold the emissaries, Kaien and Gorz!". Yeah, I'm not sold that this is an archetype, simply because "the manga is weird because the manga". I don't think we can without question say it is or it isn't an archetype. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 21:16, January 12, 2016 (UTC)
