Nomination

Fairly active. Seems to know the policies, generally. Helps out in the forum quite a bit.
However, if he were going to be accepted, I would recommend that he works on improving his attitude in certain cases (e.g. flaming spammers with insults and swearing), because of this, I'm hinting that he'd probably permaban people (so he would need to agree that there needs to be a warning and a short ban, and if they continue, a longer ban is then made). -Falzar FZ- (talk page|useful stuff) 23:41, January 7, 2011 (UTC)

Well, I accept this, but only till Summer time; ask me on Talk page if you wish to know the details. FredCat Ta.P.F.P.J.R.W.S.Th.P.S.C. 00:04, January 8, 2011 (UTC)

Result - unsuccessful
Adminship not granted. Concerns that FredCat100 isn't ready just yet. -- Deltaneos (talk) 02:16, January 26, 2011 (UTC)

Questions

Questions from Dinoguy1000

Please answer directly under each question. ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 04:37, January 8, 2011 (UTC)

1: What work do you plan to do that requires administrator tools?
Cat's Respond; Most of articles that required some slow down (from spamming or edit too much with strange grammar) or required to move through names and merges.
2: What do you consider to be your best contributions to the site, aside from vandalism reversions or general cleanup?
Cat's Respond; Add new Trivia on Anime cards, which have similar attribute or effect, like for "Double Ripple" as explain.
3: What conflicts or trouble have you been in in the past on this wiki? What did you learn from these conflicts, and how did you change your behavior or outlook as a result?
Cat's Respond; I had some fight with Grouch, it's not because I hate him but because of his hatred spamming. So now I have learning to let him alone as we are current friend.
4: What is the role of an administrator on a wiki? Does having administrator privileges grant you any more authority in editorial disputes?
Cat's Respond; That kind of role helped to get a quick access to some place where original regular User cannot access, as for example, regular user cannot move more than 2 pages in less than 3-5 minutes while Admin can do that. Other example is to set a article block depend on the situation cause, like spamming little too many times and had to lock up that article till next day or longer, as well as blocking User from trash up the site. For second question, yes, as long as I can insert the prove to show them their wrong.
5: An anonymous contributor blanks three pages. You revert their edits and warn them, after which they add personal insults to your user page. How do you handle it?
Cat's Respond; I would just erasing their trash comment off my pages. But if they continued for 2 times afterward, I will information the superior admin and block that user for like 1 or 2 days, like in my flaw past with Grouch.

Can you answer the second part of question 4, as well? ;) ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 05:41, January 8, 2011 (UTC)
Questions from Deltaneos

Same with Dinoguy's questions. Can you put your answer under each individually? -- Deltaneos (talk) 15:13, January 8, 2011 (UTC)

1: If a number of users kept changing the infobox image on the Yusei Fudo article to a video game image, that you think is not as good as the current image and an edit war occurs. How would you handle the situation if you had the ability to protect pages and block users?
Cat's Respond; I would do that in two ways, number 1; If it's same user who spamming that informbox, then I can block the user, only if that user is not listening after few warns (unregistered user don't have this kind of warning, just block directly) or number 2; if it's various unregistered users or online/member users spam that page, then I could put that page in block for 1 to 2 days.
2: Can you tell me which of these edits you reverted were vandalism? If not, what were they? 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8.
Cat's Respond; I am sure that I marked the following number; 2, 3, 5, 6, 7 and 8 because they are spamming and make it look worst. For one with Structure Deck date just misread the released date so I just revive it back.
3: Regarding the reverts mentioned in question 1 question 2, can you explain your choice of edit summaries?
Cat's Respond; I would admit that it sound little inappropriate to add some unofficial or trash informations in that page. I am know for certain that Yusei would maybe or maybe not be ZONE, but it should stay off till the episode confirm them to be one or not. For the one I didn't pick was because they were only cover on empty article and page, so those would be ignoring. And for one that I marked, as number 2; the unregistered user just vandalism the rules and removed quotation, so I just revive it back to normal. For #3, the name was place in his "alternate name" was Card Name, so I just undo it in two reasons, 1 - character cannot be card feature unless they're being seal in one (like Pegasus done to Kaiba brothers) and 2 - the evidence is not revealing or prove enough. On number 5, that user just mess up the date, so I return it to normal same idea for number 2. Sixth - Since ZeXal is created, so the signature cards included that show should be show on the article, but someone removed it from the article and pasted Shooting Star Dragon in Yusei's list so I disagreed with his active. For 7th; Wasn't tried to put in incorrect trivia in that article, so I just flipped at him and revive it with some censor over my bad tongue. And last one; the unregistered user just gave it some insult comment which is disapprove by the rulings, so I revive it with comfort summary, rather than spit a spicy words you maybe not want to read.
4: In the situation Dinoguy1000 mentioned in his question 5, if you to speak to the anonymous user what would you say?
Cat's Respond; I would just persuade them to read the ruling and increase the good attribute rather than bad behavior (as insult and trash talk).

Sorry, there's a typo in question 3. When I said "reverts mentioned in question 1", I meant "reverts mentioned in question 2". Although, I think you understood what I meant. -- Deltaneos (talk) 20:43, January 8, 2011 (UTC)
No problem, I put in my respond afterward. --FredCat Ta.P.F.P.J.R.W.S.Th.P.S.C. 20:54, January 8, 2011 (UTC)

  • Sorry. I do like FredCat. He is a helpful contributer and has come along way since some earlier conflicts he got involved in, but I don't think he's quite ready for adminship. A number of the edits he reverts are people posting what they think is okay, but he still considers spam/vandalism. It may be worth looking at Wikipedia's assume good faith page. Edit wars go a bit deeper than one user is right and the other is wrong. It's often going to require listening to what both sides have to say and hearing what other members of the community think on the matter. Judging by FredCat's answer to my first question (below), I get the feeling he's going to take sides and warn the opposition to leave it his way or be banned. I would like to see FredCat work on these issues before becoming an administrator. -- Deltaneos (talk) 17:46, January 8, 2011 (UTC)
  • As I stated on my talk page, I do feel FredCat has come a long way since we first crossed paths, but he also still has a long way to go before I could trust him with the ability to block users. Just to be clear, he already makes excellent contributions to the wiki even without access to the admin tools, and at this time, I don't believe that giving him access would let him improve the contributions he would make. As one last note, while not nearly as important (all other things being equal, it wouldn't influence my decision one way or another), it wouldn't hurt for FredCat to work some on improving his grasp of the English language (especially since we do tend to get a lot of users for whom English is not their first language). ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 19:10, January 8, 2011 (UTC)
  • I think the same that Dinoguy, Fred needs to learn yet. He's a good editor and I think he deserves to be admin but not soon. Dark-Shimy (talkcontribs) 21:01, January 8, 2011 (UTC)
