Say I have Botanical Girl in face-up attack position on the field.  I attack my opponent's monster - and it happens to be Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter.  Opponent uses Ryko's effect to then destroy Botanical Girl.  Am I still able to take advantage of Botanical Girl's effect and "add 1 Plant-Type monster with 1000 or less DEF from your Deck" to my hand?  Or does Botanical Girl miss timing because of Ryko's discard cost?

Also, if Botanical Girl DOES miss timing, would that also hold true for Sangan (and most other searchers) as well?

No. Sangan is "Add one" while girl is "Can add one", Sangan is manditory, so cannot miss the timing.-Resk (talk • contribs) 01:40, November 28, 2010 (UTC)

Ryko doesn't have a cost. "If <s>"Peten the Dark Clown"</s> 'Botanical Girl' is destroyed by "Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter", its effect cannot be activated." because Sending is the last thing to occur, and not the destruction of Botanical Girl. Botanical Girl is an Optional Trigger Effect, Sangan is a Mandatory Trigger Effect. Mandatory Trigger Effects never miss the timing. <span style="font-family: Monotype Corsiva">-Falzar FZ- (talk page|useful stuff)</span> 01:42, November 28, 2010 (UTC)

Additional Question

--Kungfu-mama(talk) 01:37, November 28, 2010 (UTC)

No. Sangan is "Add one" while girl is "Can add one", Sangan is manditory, so cannot miss the timing.-Resk (talkcontribs) 01:40, November 28, 2010 (UTC)

Ryko doesn't have a cost. "If "Peten the Dark Clown" 'Botanical Girl' is destroyed by "Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter", its effect cannot be activated." because Sending is the last thing to occur, and not the destruction of Botanical Girl. Botanical Girl is an Optional Trigger Effect, Sangan is a Mandatory Trigger Effect. Mandatory Trigger Effects never miss the timing. -Falzar FZ- (talk page|useful stuff) 01:42, November 28, 2010 (UTC)
