• This card name refers to a Dyson sphere, a hypothetical technological megastructure that encircles or encloses either a star or a star and its solar system, designed to harvest a sun's vast energy to benefit the people living within the Dyson Sphere.
  • This card's numerical value, 9, could possibly be a reference to the nine major bodies of our Solar System (the sun and the eight planets).
  • This card's number may also refer to it being the ninth "Number" revealed in the World Duel Carnival, the first eight being "Number 7: Lucky Straight", "Number 15: Gimmick Puppet Giant Grinder", "Number 32: Shark Drake", "Number 25: Force Focus", "Number 33: Chronomaly Machu Mech", "Number 40: Gimmick Puppet of Strings", "Number 6: Chronomaly Atlandis", and "Number 8: Heraldic King Genome Heriter".
  • There are 2 9's in its card number, 01992816, a reference to the Level (9) and the number of monsters required to Xyz Summon this monster.
  • Most obviously, the number can also refer to its Rank of the same value.

• This is the only Number card used by Kite Tenjo that isn't a multiple of 10.
  • Subtracting the name of this card's original owner, Quinton, from its numerical value, 9, equals 4, which could allude to the fact that this is the fourth Number card played by Kite Tenjo in the anime.

• This card is the first Rank 9 Xyz Monster and the highest Rank "Number" so far, tied with "Number 92: Fake-Body God Dragon, Heart-eartH Dragon".

• This card has an eye on each side of the outer panels, causing it to resemble a face.

• This monster has five panels, which could be a reference to the name of its owner.

• This sealed form of this "Number" resembles a meteor with its panels covering it. It then slowly spreads out its panels to reveal its whole form.

• When this card detaches an Overlay Unit, it absorbs it through its center opening.

• This card is one of three "Number" cards whose Number is the same as its Rank. The other 2 being "Chronomaly Atlandis" and "Lucky Straight".

• This is the first and currently only Xyz Monster that doesn't have its Xyz Material revolving around it in the normal manner.
  • Instead, this card's Xyz Materials seem to flow through it's panels. If they need to be used for its effect, they simply leave the panels.

• When this card's effects are negated, all its lights shut down just like a machine without any power.

• In the anime, this monster creates a black hole (which suck in all matter) to negate attacks, and then creates a white hole (which are said eject matter) to attack.

• This monster has the highest DEF of all "Numbers", tied with "Chronomaly Atlandis" and "Number 30: Acid Golem of Destruction". Also, these "Numbers" have the highest DEF of all Xyz Monsters tied with "Neo Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon" and "Superdreadnought Rail Cannon Gustav Max".

• In the anime, this is one of the largest monsters, if not the largest, seen so far, being slightly smaller than a star when in its sealed form.
  • When it is in its true form, it is big enough to surround the same star with its panels.

• This card appears in the artwork of "Gravity Blaster" and "Space Gate".

• The word "Sphere" in the Japanese language is 球 (KYŪ) has the same pronunciation as the number 9.

• In addition, the head-on appearance of "Dyson Sphere" somewhat resembles the planet mode of the Transformers character Unicron.

• In Kite Tenjo's Duel with Vetrix, Dyson Sphere's panels are shown to have buildings, which means that it's panels are not just for supplying energy, but also for supporting entire cities. This confirms Quinton's statement about Dyson Sphere being a "space colony".

• This card resembles the Citadel from Mass Effect.

• This card's obverse view bears a strong resemblance to the head of a petaled flower--specifically the rafflesia.
