- "Ryu" is the Japanese word for 'Dragon', while "Kishin" is a Japanese term meaning 'Fierce God'.
- This card has an upgraded version, "Ryu-Kishin Powered", and a weaker version, "Ryu-Kishin Clown".
- A monster similar to this one appears in the artwork of "Light of Intervention".
