- The Paradox Brothers used this monster against Yugi Muto and Joey Wheeler in Duelist Kingdom. It was still considered as three monsters with separate ATK/DEF.
- When Gate Guardian was first used, it was still considered to be three separate monsters, each with their own ATK and DEF points. It could negate as many attacks per turn as it had "sections" remaining.
- In Kaiba's Virtual World, Yugi and the gang encounter the Gate Guardian at the end of a maze. This time it was treated as one monster like the real card game. It was destroyed by B. Skull Dragon equipped with Dragon Nails.
