Anime/Manga

• Lumis and Umbra used this card against Yugi and Seto Kaiba in their second Tag-Team Duel. The first was equipped onto "Shining Abyss", increasing its ATK by 1000. Umbra then activated "Masked Doll" so that he would not have to pay any Life Points to keep this card on the field. Later another copy was equipped onto "Rogue Doll", increasing its ATK by 1000. When "Rogue Doll" attacked Kaiba's "Blue-Eyes", Lumis activated "Mask of Weakness" to decrease the ATK of "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" by 700, but Yugi used "Mystical Refpanel" to switch the target of this card to "Blue-Eyes White Dragon". As a result, "Rogue Doll" lost the bonus from this card while "Blue-Eyes" gained the bonus from it, allowing "Blue-Eyes" to counterattack and destroy "Rogue Doll".

• In episode 108, this card appears in a flashback explained by Leichter when he reminds Seto that his birthday gift from Gozaburo Kaiba was where all the mistakes made by Seto himself began.

• Mask of Brutality did not decrease the equipped monster's DEF by 1000 points.

• In the manga, Mask of Brutality only increases the ATK by 700 points, and did not cost 1000 life points per turn.
