TCG Rulings
- Sending "Blackwing - Kalut the Moon Shadow" to the graveyard is a cost to activate its effect.[1]
- The effect of "Blackwing - Kalut the Moon Shadow" does not target.[1]
- You can send "Blackwing - Kalut the Moon Shadow" to the Graveyard during either player's turn, as it is a Quick Effect.[1]
OCG Rulings
- Sending "Blackwing - Kalut the Moon Shadow" from the hand to the Graveyard is a cost to activate its effect.[2][3]
- When a "Blackwing" monster you control battles, you can activate the effect of "Blackwing - Kalut the Moon Shadow" from the start of the Damage Step to the start of Damage Calculation. You can activate the effect during Damage Calculation, such as in chain to the effect of "Injection Fairy Lily".[3]
- You can activate the effect of a card like "Gem-Merchant", "Honest", or "Blackwing - Kalut the Moon Shadow" during the Damage Step only while the monster is face-up.[4]
- Example: If a face-down "Gem-Knight Garnet" is attacked, then you can activate the effect of "Gem-Merchant" after the face-down "Gem-Knight Garnet" is flipped face-up.[4]
