- A recurring theme with Coin Toss cards is lowering their user's Life Points as a consequence. With this card in your Deck, calling your coin tosses wrong can pay off in the long run. Just make sure you have a particularly strong Monster on your field when you play this card.
- In fact, this can be particularly helpful after suffering the negative effect of "Gamble". After having your LP drastically reduced by your opponent, you can use this card to turn the tables.
Contents
Traditional Format
- Use "A Cat of Ill Omen" to put this card onto the top of your deck (or even in your hand, if you have "Necrovalley" on the field).
- Use "Wall of Revealing Light" or "Cyber-Stein" to quickly get your LP down enough to activate this card.
- This card can be especially useful against Synchro- or Xyz-heavy Decks, as the majority of their powerful monsters reside in the Extra Deck, and are thus ineligible to be Summoned with this card.
Guaranteeing a win
- If you choose a monster with an effect that prevents your opponent from Special Summoning, you can guarantee a win. Such monsters include "Jowgen the Spiritualist", "Fossil Dyna Pachycephalo", "Vanity's Fiend", "Archlord Kristya", and a Ritual Monster that used "Djinn Releaser of Rituals" as a Tribute for its Ritual Summon.
- Use this card while you control "Mirror Force Dragon". Your opponent will have no choice but to attack him, giving you the ultimate opportunity to use his effect. The attacking Monster will be destroyed, winning you the duel.
- Use "Non Aggression Area".
- If you use "Inferno Tempest" and still have a monster on the field right before you activate this card, your opponent would have no monsters to Summon.
- To counter this, prepare Necroface in your hand
- Have an Elemental Hero Neo Bubbleman on your field and a Shield Warrior/Necro Defender in your Graveyard. Neo Bubbleman won't be destroyed by battle anyways and would yet take down the opponent's attacking monster.
Guaranteeing a DRAW
- You can guarantee a DRAW by choosing a monster that will make whatever it battles leave the field. Examples include "D.D. Warrior Lady", "D.D. Assailant" and "D.D. Warrior"; "Newdoria", "Yomi Ship" and "Exploder Dragon"; and "Kaiser Glider", "Neo-Spacian Grand Mole", "Wall of Illusion", "Kelbek" and "Mist Valley Soldier".
- A quite effective strategy would be using Cyber Shadow Gardna, which would mimic the opponent's attacking monster's ATK/DEF while active as a monster, thereby blowing up both battling monsters.
Making a win very likely
- "Interplanetary Invader "A"" will take control of any opponent's monster that attacks it. However, this will fail against monsters whose effects can return it to the Deck, like "Mystical Knight of Jackal".
- Choose "Five-Headed Dragon". With this Monster bearing 5000 ATK and being indestructible in battle with non-LIGHT(Or DIVINE) Monsters, you can expect the worst-case scenario to be a DRAW.
- Whether you or not you are the user of this card, "Keeper of the Shrine" is a good Monster to have in your Graveyard. There are two ways how this card can help you win the Duel.
- If you are using "Last Turn", select "Exploder Dragon" or "Starving Venom Fusion Dragon". If/When that Monster is destroyed in the battle, your opponent's Monster will be destroyed as well, allowing you to summon "Keeper of the Shrine" from your Graveyard. Your opponent, however, will not have many more cards to play.
- If your opponent is using "Last Turn", Summon "Exploder Dragon". If/When it is destroyed, activate "Keeper of the Shrine's" effect and add a Normal Dragon like "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" to your hand. Tribute him to Summon that Monster and then attack directly during your normal Battle Phase.
- Select a monster that has an effect that ensures it will have a higher ATK than the monster it battles. Examples include "The Wicked Avatar", "Suijin", "Kazejin", and "Sanga of the Thunder". Alternatively, select any monster with more than 3800 ATK, as the strongest fixed-ATK monster the opponent can safely Summon with this card is "Beast Machine King Barbaros Ür". If you do this, however, watch out for monsters with built-in ATK-reducing effect such as "Gaia Plate the Earth Giant".
- Make sure that multiple Virus cards(Excluding "Eradicator Epidemic Virus" and "Planet Pollutant Virus") are still in effect when this card is activated, so most Monsters your opponent summons will be destroyed. "Elemental HERO Wildheart" is immune to Trap cards, but you can counter this by selecting a Monster with higher ATK.
- The Dragon Rulers can actually save you from your opponent's use of this card. After the "Special Battle Phase" occurs, summon them from the Graveyard with their effects. From that point on, there are 3 things you can do:
- Xyz Summon "Number 11: Big Eye" and use its effect to steal your opponent's Monster, causing their strategy to backfire.
- Xyz Summon "Number 28: Titanic Moth", enter your normal Battle Phase, and attack your opponent directly with this Monster, wiping out your opponent's remaining Life Points.
- Banish one of the Dragon Rulers from the Graveyards to summon another one from the Graveyards, and use the banished one's effect to add a Dragon-type Tuner to your hand. Summon it, and use them to Synchro Summon a Monster before attacking them directly in your normal Battle Phase.
- Use this the turn after you Summon the "The Winged Dragon of Ra". Not only will you have satisfied this card's Life Point requirement, your "Ra" should have enough ATK to defeat any monster your opponent is able to Summon.
- Use this in a Graveyard Dragon Power Deck. Whether your Ace Monster is "Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon", "Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon", "Cyberdark Dragon", or "Red Nova Dragon" you can benefit greatly from this card. Your Ace Monster will likely be powered up by this card's Nuke effect, and your opponent likely won't have any Monsters with ATK higher than yours.
Making a DRAW very likely
- If you choose a Defense Position "Testudo erat Numen" with this card, your opponent will be unable to Summon a monster with over 1800 ATK and therefore cannot destroy this card by battle. However, cards like "Hyper Hammerhead" can still return it to the hand, which will cause you to lose. In addition, watch out for cards whose effects boost their own ATK.
- If your monster cannot be destroyed by battle, you are likely to ensure at least a DRAW. Examples include: "Gellenduo", many of the "Cloudian" monsters, "Spirit Reaper", "Marshmallon" or even "Yubel". "Infernity Guardian" will also works as you will have no cards in your hand. Alternatively, activate "Waboku" before "Last Turn" resolves, to prevent your monster from being destroyed by battle.
- However, note that the monster would still be vulnerable to the effect(s) of the monster it battles, and also that if the opposing monster survives the special Battle Phase, it can still attack during the normal Battle Phase, and will be able to inflict battle damage.
- If you activate this card while you have "Elemental HERO Wildheart" (or other monsters with a similar effect) on the field and another monster, choose the other monster for the effect of "Last Turn". "Wildheart" will not be sent to the Graveyard via the effect of "Last Turn", meaning if the monster you chose is destroyed, "Wildheart" may still be on the field, resulting in a DRAW.
- "Forbidden Lance" works well as well.
- If your opponent uses this card against you, a monster you can Summon in addition to any of the above is "Copycat".
- Use "Shield Warrior" or "Necro Defender" to win a battle with monsters with equal ATK, or at least tie if the opponent's monster is protected by battle as well.
- Use "Decoy Dragon" with a strong Dragon-Type monster in your hand so you can either destroy your opponent's monster with it or at worst DRAW since your original monster wouldn't be threatened.
- A victory can be guaranteed by reviving "Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand" with its effect.
- Use cards such as "Shining Angel" that can search for monsters or a Token-producing monster such as "Dandylion" to make a DRAW likely, as you will still be able to control a monster even if your monster is destroyed during the battle.
