The title "D/D/D" stands for Different Dimension Demon. Prepare to get a good taste of the power of kings who subjugate alternate planes.

— Declan Akaba on the D/D/D.

"D/D/D", known as DDD (ディーディーディー DīDīDī) in the English manga, is an sub-archetype of the "D/D" archetype used by Declan Akaba in the special Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V chapter and anime. The "D/D/D" monsters serve as the "bosses" of the "D/D" due to most of their gameplay focusing on their summoning.

Design

So far, every "D/D/D" monster has been named after a historical military leader, except "D/D/D Hell Armageddon the Cruel End Overlord", "D/D/D Kali Yuga the Twin Dawn Overlord", and "D/D/D Oblivion King Abyss Ragnarok", which are named after mythical final battles.

D/D/D Historical Leader/Battle
Blaze Overlord Temujin Temujin (Genghis Khan)
Dragon King Pendragon Uther Pendragon OR Arthur Pendragon
Gale Overlord Alexander Alexander III of Macedon
Hell Armageddon the Cruel End Overlord Armageddon
Kaiser the Conqueror Kaiser
Kali Yuga the Twin Dawn Overlord Kali Yuga
Oblivion King Abyss Ragnarok and Caesar Ragnarok the Wave Complete Oblivion Overlord Ragnarök
Oracle Overlord D'Arc Joan of Arc
Rebellious Overlord Leonidas Leonidas of Sparta
Sniping Overlord Tell William Tell
Wave Overlord Caesar and Caesar Ragnarok the Wave Complete Oblivion Overlord Gaius Julius Caesar

Etymology

According to Declan, "D/D/D" is short for "Different Dimension Demon"[1] (ディファレント・ディメンション・デーモン Difarento Dimenshon Dēmon).[2]
