"Covenant" (契（けい）約（やく）書（しょ） Keiyakusho) is an archetype related to the "DD" archetype, both of which are used by Declan in Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V. Appearance-wise the actual "Covenants" featured on the cards appear as pages of ruined text, often accompanied by a featured monster(s) such as "Dark Witch" and "King of the Swamp", suggesting they represent magical contracts with those monsters.

Playing style

The "Convenant" cards deal damage to their controller each Standby Phases of their turn, in exchange for other advantageous effects. They are supported by some "DD" monsters and have great synergy with them, helping the "DDs" to perform all kinds of Summons without losing much Hand Advantage. They are also supported by other cards used by Reiji, such as "Lease Laundering", which allows the player to abuse the advantageous effects of the "Covenants" cards while getting rid of them before their "payment" kicks in. As a bonus, the trap even "refunds" the player with an extra draw and 1000 LP for each "Covenant" destroyed, removing almost all conceivable disadvantage the "Covenant" payments could impose.
