Equip Spell Cards are Spell Cards that usually change the ATK and DEF of a Monster Card on the field, or grant that Monster Card special abilities. When these cards are destroyed, the equipped Monster's Stats return to normal, unless the card itself specifies the Monster Card is destroyed as well.
- An example of a ATK-Boosting Equip Spell Card is Axe of Despair
- An example of a DEF-Boosting Equip Spell Card is Horn of Light
- Two Equip Spell Card with unusual effects are Premature Burial and Snatch Steal.
Unless the card itself specifically denies it, you may equip an Equip Spell Card to any monster on the field, be it controlled by you or your opponent.
When a card that is not a Spell Card is equipped to a monster (such as a monster being equipped to Relinquished), it is still treated as if it were an Equip Spell Card.
