I think he did, but he's a TV character, they don't use the real rules, their decks are unbalanced, the writers decide what they draw, instead of luck. I don't really think Dragons and Machine are a very good combo, unless you are using Cyberdarks, which you either use very little Dragons, or very little Machines. If it's a Machine deck, he can get a few Machina Mayhem Structure Decks and combine them with his original deck. Also, he needs some more Synchros, Stardust Dragon is probably the best out there. You can get him in the Shooting Star Dragon tin. Also, some other good ones are Brionac, Dragon Of The Ice Barrier, Mist Wurm, Formula Synchron, Red Nova Dragon, Ally Of Justice Catastor and Naturia Beast.

Hello all! This is a deck put together by my 12-year-old son. He is interested in getting into dueling tournaments, so any advice on how to improve this deck would be greatly appreciated. And, please, be nice. He is just 12, after all.

Kungfu-mama 14:32, 24 August 2009 (UTC) Updated to show his most current version. He bought cards this weekend!

ill say add another junk synchron and mystic tomato x2 and take off the extra monster reborn you cant use two add 2 more quillbolt and ill say tuningware -38lego

Hm.. This deck is too heavy. You should reduce it to around ~40 cards (~20 monsters and ~10 spells and ~10 traps). I'll say which cards to add/remove later. :)

Well, I understand the idea behind the Mystic Tomato - it allows you to summon one dark monster 1500 or less back from the graveyard to your side of the field. Essentially, you're using a monster effect to replace one of the 'Monster Reborn' cards. The problem is with the 'dark' part - most of his monsters are Earth and Light. So, I'll have to look for something similar in a different monster card. But thanks for the idea.

Also, the Synchro monsters shouldn't be counted in the deck total - they go in the side deck zone. Guess I should have structured my entry a bit differently??

um...actually, mystic tomato doesn't summon anything from the graveyard. When it goes to the graveyard you get to summon a monster with ATK 1500 or less from your deck to the field Phoenixdrakenfire 23:41, 20 August 2009 (UTC)PhoenixDrakenfire

Yeah, guess I worded it wrong. But you got the idea. Kungfu-mama 20:06, 22 August 2009 (UTC) Here's the actual wording: "When this card is destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard, you can Special Summon 1 DARK monster with 1500 or less ATK from your Deck in face-up Attack Position."

While I'm not an expert, my first question would have to be "what is the general theme of the deck?". There seems to be a few different ways this deck could go, just needs a bit of focus first. And the closer it can be to 40 cards (not including the extra deck), the smoother the deck should run.Phoenixdrakenfire 02:55, 21 August 2009 (UTC)--Phoenixdrakenfire

Kungfu-mama 20:25, 22 August 2009 (UTC)Well, it's a machine-themed deck in general. I tell him not to get too hung up on themes, though, since sometimes cards other than his theme-type will have the same or close to the same effect - AND be a little easier to come by (LOL).

If you are asking whether he wants a beat-down or mill, or burn type of deck... well, that's the question. From the cards he likes, I think he'd probably be happiest with some sort of aggro deck. Make sense? Kungfu-mama 13:44, 24 August 2009 (UTC)Although a beat-down would probably work for him too. Keep in mind, I'm not all that familiar with the different deck styles.

Kungfu-mama BTW, I should note that he's assessing "ancient gear..." cards to help change his deck.

the mystic tomato idea is to summon out junk synchrons so i recommend two mystic tomatos and two junk synchrons

What's his card budget look like? A tournament worthy deck can be a bit expensive.

Kungfu-mama 13:44, 24 August 2009 (UTC) Well, let me first say that we have a TON of the older cards (early GX and prior). Let's set his budget to about $50 - but if there are some "must haves" to help him win, feel free to list them. We'll see what we can do. Thanks again for all your help.

Kungfu-mamaAnother BTW - I know Monster Reborn is on the Sept. Forbidden list - but Call of the Haunted as been returned as Limited. Any other changes to keep this deck Advance Tourney worthy would be appreciated.

If he's working on a machine-type deck, then Cyber Dragon, 2 Proto-Cyber Dragons, and 2 The Light - Hex-Sealed Fusions, 2 Cyber Twin Dragons, 3 Chimeratech Fortress Dragons, 2 Chimeratech Overdragons, 1 Cyber End Dragon (for that rare occasion that it can be used), Power Bond, Overload Fusion, and Polymerization should be included as well. Now for the explanation: The Light - Hex-Sealed Fusion and a face-up Proto-Cyber Dragon can be Special Summoned but not Fusion Summoned to get the Cyber Twin Dragon out real fast. It can also work for the Cyber End Dragon, too. The 2 Chimeras are easy to figure out.

Hoped that this helped.

Convert to a Machine/Dragon deck?

Thanks! That's very helpful. I was actually starting to look at some of the dragon cards (came across our Horus the Black Flame Dragons, all three levels), and began wondering if Dragons and Machines might not be a good mix. After all, isn't that what Kaiba ran towards the end of the Yugioh series?
