"Hydradrive" (ハイドライブ Haidoraibu) is an archetype of Cyberse monsters of various Attributes used by Bohman in the Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS anime.
Design
Appearance
Hydradrive monsters, with the exception of Covered Hydradrive, all appear to be based off of reptilian creatures, and they all have a sigil somewhere on their body. All Hydradrive monsters are eyeless, or have their eyes covered; notably the Link Monsters have visors over their eyes.
Etymology
The Japanese name of this archetype is a portmanteau of "Hydra" (ハイドラ Haidora) and "drive" (ドライブ doraibu). Fittingly, a Hydra is, in most cases, depicted as reptilian, owing to the design of the Hydradrive monsters.
Playing style
Hydradrive plays around Link Summoning the Hydradrive Link Monsters, after which, their strategy shifts to play around the opponent's monsters' Attributes. The Link Monsters all share the effect to be able to attack directly if the opponent controls a monster with the same Attribute as itself. The Link Monsters also share the effect to Special Summon a Hydradrive Token upon being destroyed.
