Verz is an archetype of DARK-Attribute monsters which was introduced in Duel Terminal - Sacred Star Knights!!. Their most significant feature is that their ATK/DEF end with 50. Despite being released prior to this one, the "Steelswarm" archetype (which is known as "Inverz" in the OCG) is a sub-archetype of this one. Thus, all "Steelswarm" monsters are supported by "Verz" support cards.

Some of the monsters in this archetype are DARK counterparts of other Duel Terminal Edition monsters, apparently corrupted by the virus of the "Steelswarm", which was released from "Steelswarm Cell" as shown in the artwork of "Invasive Violating Infection". A good example is the Xyz Monster "Verz Bahamut", which is the counterpart of "Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier". Possibly, this plague also destroyed the Steelswarms themselves, as the only true "Steelswarm" to be released since has been "Steelswarm Roach" since cockroaches, its theme, are famous for being hard to kill and being able to survive nuclear radiation.

Relationship

Evidently, this archetype share a close name with "Steelswarm" (Inverz, インヴェルズ), an archetype from the previous Duel Terminal story arc. They both consist of also DARK-Attribute monsters. Furthermore, the "Inverz" could be seen as a shortened version of "Insect Verz" or "Insectoid Verz", meaning the "Verz" virus might have come long before the "Steelswarm" did, and the "Steelswarms" are a heavily-infected species of creature. Even the "Verz" symbol can be seen as an outline of "Steelswarm" symbol (best seen under the chest of "Verz Bahamut").

It is also possible that with the destruction of the Steelswarm at the hands of the Vylons. The virus then could of corrupted or even copied the other Duel Terminal Archetypes. Evidence of this is how Verz Heliolope, a suppossed counterpart to Gem-Knight Emerald, exists at the same time as Daigusto Emeral, who is suppossedly made from a Gusto monster and Gem-Knight Emerald. Two Emerald's can't exist if he is one individual being, so Heliolope may be a corrupted copy.
