Card Rulings:Des Volstgalph
Contents
OCG Rulings
- The effect that inflicts 500 damage to your opponent is a Trigger Effect that activates on the field. (It does not target. It activates mandatorily at the end of the Damage Step in which "Des Volstgalph" destroyed an opponent's monster by battle and sent it to the Graveyard.)[1]
- This effect does not activate if "Des Volstgalph" battles a monster with the same ATK and both monsters are destroyed.[1]
- The effect that makes this card gain 200 ATK is a Continuous Effect. (If a player activates a Normal Spell Card or Quick-Play Spell Card, immediately after it resolves, this effect is applied. It is applied even during the Damage Step.)[1]
Q&A Rulings
- Q: Before damage calculation, if "Des Volstgalph" battles and "Rush Recklessly" is activated, what happens to the ATK of "Des Volstgalph"?
- A: In this case, since the effect that makes "Des Volstgalph" gain 200 ATK is also applied, battle damage calculation is performed using 3100 ATK (2200 + 700 + 200).[2]
Previously Official Rulings
These TCG rulings were issued by Upper Deck Entertainment and have since been declared unofficial by Konami.[3] They were previously considered official and can still be correct, as long as they follow the official gameplay rules, or unless Konami has issued a ruling that says otherwise.
