Card Rulings:Nightmare Penguin
OCG Rulings
- A Flip Effect Monster is an Effect Monster with "FLIP:" in its text. "Nightmare Penguin" and "Fossil Dyna Pachycephalo" lack this text, so they are not Flip Effect Monsters. Thus, when a face-down "Fossil Dyna Pachycephalo" is flipped by "Ceasefire", its effect will activate.[1]
Previously Official Rulings
These TCG rulings were issued by Upper Deck Entertainment and have since been declared unofficial by Konami.[2] They were previously considered official and can still be correct, as long as they follow the official gameplay rules, or unless Konami has issued a ruling that says otherwise. Mentions in Other Rulings
- Drillroid: "Nightmare Penguin" will activate its effect if attacked by "Drillroid" while face-down. (Just like a Flip Effect.)
- Ehren, Lightsworn Monk: “Nightmare Penguin” will activate its effect if attacked by “Ehren, Lightsworn Monk” while face-down. (Just like a Flip Effect.)
- The Six Samurai - Zanji: "The Six Samurai - Zanji's" effect activates at the end of the Damage Step. If there are no other "Six Samurai" monsters with a different name face-up on your side of the field when its effect resolves, the effect disappears.
- Example 1: If you have "The Six Samurai - Zanji" and "The Six Samurai - Irou" on your side of the field and "The Six Samurai - Zanji" attacks your opponent's face-down "Nightmare Penguin", if your opponent returns "The Six Samurai - Irou" to your hand the "Nightmare Penguin" is not destroyed by "The Six Samurai - Zanji's" effect.
