After an attack has been declared and responded to (ie Dimensional Prison, then negated by Dark Bribe), is there another timing "during the Battle Step but after attack declaration, before Damage Calculation" where I can activate other effects? Such as using Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy my opponent's United We Stand.

The Breakdown of the Battle Phase page says there is such a timing, but Judges I know along with other local players argue that this timing does not exist. They argue that after attack declaration and the response to attack, proceedings immediately jump to the Damage Step. They also argue that Konami removed this timing after taking back control from UDE.

Please help!

I'm not sure if that page is out of date or not, but the terms I usually use aren't the exactly what they use on that page.
Some people call the 'Before Damage Step' the 'Battle Step' instead, but either way, there is a step after Attack Declaration for those things to be done.
Stripping the steps to its basics should be something like:
  1. Attack Declaration - Only 1 chain allowed. Dimensional Prison and anything that has the correct activation timing can be used.
  2. Battle Step - As many chains as you can are allowed, anything that has the correct activation timing can be used, that includes Mystical Space Typhoon.
  3. If the monster is face-down, they are flipped now
  4. Damage Step - Only 1 chain allowed. As many chains as you can are allowed. Only stuff listed at Damage Step is allowed.
  5. Damage Calculation - Only 1 chain allowed. Things that say during Damage Calculation, and things that are ruled to be able to be used in Damage Calculation, such as Honest.

I mostly agree with Falzar. However, I thought that before damage calculation, after flipping the monster face up, you could activate multiple chains which alter battle stats?

Does anyone know for certain if the "after attack, before damage step" timing still exists? CDB-Man (talkcontribs) 18:33, July 1, 2011 (UTC)

sure it still exists. Why not?

And I agree, at least the site says, that you can activate multiple chains bevore damage calculation and as far as I remember I've also already done so in one of the wc games. -dest- (talkcontribs) 21:01, July 1, 2011 (UTC)

Copy/Pasted too much maybe. Fixed. -Falzar FZ- (talk page|useful stuff) 00:05, July 2, 2011 (UTC)

I have a related question. If I activate Fiendish Chain "Before Damage Step," would it stop the attack? Or would the attack still go through since the attack declaration was not negated? Fiendish Chain just says the target monster can't attack so I'm not sure. 75.119.240.156 (talk) 04:43, July 5, 2011 (UTC)

The attack just stops. Similar to what happens with Gravity Bind. -Falzar FZ- (talk page|useful stuff) 04:49, July 5, 2011 (UTC)

when a card only stops attack declaration instead the whole attack it will state so, for example Threatening Roar. -dest- (talkcontribs) 10:13, July 5, 2011 (UTC)
