Unlike Power Tool Dragon and Spirit of the Six Samurai, which can't save something if all cards are to be destroyed (because they have Optional Effects).
Machina Gearframe can save something, even if all the cards would be destroyed (because it has a Compulsory Effect).
So Machina Fortress would stay on the field after the Black Rose Nuke.
It's similar to how Doomcaliber Knight can activate his effect and Tribute itself for cost even if he is destroyed by battle, but before being sent to the graveyard (Compulsory Effect),
and how Stardust Dragon cannot activate his effect and Tribute itself for cost after he is destroyed by battle, but before being sent to the graveyard (Optional Effect).

wow BIG QUESTION

So, If I attack a doomcaliber knight With a Don Zaloog with 2200atk (equipped with a united we stand), then I deal damage and activate My Don effect... You are telling me that my opponent Can Tribute the Doomcaliber that is consider destroy to activate it's effect? I don't see the logic?

And why Can Machina Gearframe save a machine being equipped from a Black Rose Dragonragon, if both cards are destroy at the same time?

explain more specific pliz.. sorry to bother MobiusxXx 05:06, June 8, 2010 (UTC)

Monster are considered "destroyed by battle" during substep 5 of the Damage Step. They are only sent to the graveyard during substep 7. This means that the effect of Doomcaliber Knight can still activate before it is sent to the graveyard after being destroyed by battle. Any Effect Monster's effect that activates during substep 5 to 7 can still be negated by Doomcaliber Knight, e.g. Don Zaloog. See Breakdown of the Battle Phase.

Falzar FZ already explained it. The effect of Machina Gearframe is a Mandatory Trigger Effect. In other words, it is an effect that you as the player, have no choice but to activate it when it is triggered.--HHTurtle 05:26, June 8, 2010 (UTC)
