can lonefire be special summoned from the graveyard by debris and still activate its effect by tributing itself since it will be in the graveyard when its effect resolves.— This unsigned comment was made by 70.181.113.233 (talkcontribs)

  • Skill Drain negates effects on the field so if the monster is on the field on resolving, the effect is negated. Lonefire cost of tributing is a cost so it will in the graveyard when it resolves (that is if you tributed Lonefire and not another plant).
  • Debris says the effect is negated fully, not just when it's on the field. So even if Lonefire is tributed, its effect is negated because the activation was on the field. Note: for Dandylion, if you summon that with Debris, it's effect still because it activates in the grave where it's not effected by Debris.

wouldnt lonefire still be resolving in the graveyard? I know it is possible to activate lonefire's effect since I saw on a sjc featured match a player special summon card trooper with debris and still use its milling effect (although it didnt get an attack boost).70.181.113.233 04:27, May 22, 2010 (UTC)

Yes, it would try to resolve its effect in the graveyard but what Falzar FZ meant was that Debris Dragon's negation effect is not restricted to effects on the field, the effect of the special summoned monster is also negated in the graveyard.--Hide Head Turtle 05:39, May 22, 2010 (UTC)

The effect of Lonefire activates on the field, and the effect also resolves on the field even though Lonefire tributed itself and the card in the Graveyard.
Since Debris Dragon doesn't have a restriction, it only looks at where the effect activates and resolves, it does not look at the card or where it ends up. That's why Lonefire is negated.
I shouldn't have mentioned Skill Drain since it's very different. It only cares about whether or not the card is face-up on the field or not on resolution. Falzar FZ 06:04, May 22, 2010 (UTC)
Sorry, I wasn't clear enough. If Lonefire Blossom tributes itself its effect will resolve in the graveyard.--Hide Head Turtle 06:27, May 22, 2010 (UTC)
I actually meant what I said. Even if Lonefire Tributes itself, it's effect activates and resolves on the field, even though the card is in the graveyard. Falzar FZ 06:36, May 22, 2010 (UTC)
If it tributes itself for its effect, it will not be negated by Skill Drain. See Forum:Skill drain VS lonefire blossom.--Hide Head Turtle 06:37, May 22, 2010 (UTC)
I am aware of that, and Deus ex Machina said the card wasn't on the field, so it's not negated, he didn't say much about the effect itself.
Treat the effect and the card as different components. An effect activates and resolves in the same place, always. even if the card is in a different location after activation. Falzar FZ 06:44, May 22, 2010 (UTC)
You rang?
Effects always activate and resolve in the same place. It doesn't matter where the monster is.
"Skill Drain" only negates the effect of face-up monsters. If a monster is not face-up when its effect is resolving, then "Skill Drain" can't negate the effect. It's kinda like "Light-Imprisoning Mirror" - if you have "Lonefire Blossom" + "DNA Transplant" (declaring LIGHT), then you can still Tribute "Lonefire Blossom" for its effect. The effect will resolve properly, since "Lonefire Blossom" is no longer a LIGHT monster. Similarly, with "Skill Drain", "Lonefire Blossom" is no longer a face-up monster, so "Skill Drain" can't negate the effect.

yes, the second line there is what I was trying to explain. Falzar FZ 23:34, May 22, 2010 (UTC)

Yes, you can use Lonefire's effect and tribute a plant. But either way (tribute itself or tribute another plant) on resolution, it will still be negated. Falzar FZ 01:35, June 2, 2010 (UTC)

You cant summon monster with lonefire blossom summoed by debris

I send a email for section of rulling in konami US site, and answer:The effect of Lonefire Blossom would be negated by Debris Dragon, so you could Tribute it but you would not get to Summon a monster. cant summon sorry =/

Why would you need to send an email to Konami to ask that? The answer is clearly given above. Either way, we don't put stuff like that on the Card Rulings page. Only rulings that were officially issued by Konami can be displayed on the Card Rulings page.-- HHTurtle Talk   10:21, October 31, 2010 (UTC)

Really is clearly, seirous? OMG Incredible... many peoples discord.

It's actually really easy to sign your post just put --~~~~ behind your post. You can do this by typing SHIFT + [`] (The button beside the [1] on your keyboard) or pressing the button that looks like a signature above the editing space (The button between the one that looks like a "restriction sign with a W" and the one that looks like a bar).-- HHTurtle Talk   12:17, October 31, 2010 (UTC)
