This question refers to cards, that gain Atk power during the damage step. I've never fully understood what happens when they do. T.G. Rush Rhino is one that I commonly see, it gains 400 atk during the Damage Step. So, if it attacks an attack position monster, with 1800 atk, what happens? Or if it attacks something with 1600-1900 defense.
I've always assumed, and I'm probably wrong, that since it only gains the atk during the Damage Step it still can't destroy monsters with more atk then it. It can cause some life point damage by attacking something with less then 2000 atk, but, if it had more than 1600 atk, I think the attack would kill Rush Rhino.
Anyways, if anyone can understand what I'm asking, any help would be appreciated. I understand this is a pretty novice question, but it's something I've never had explained to Me in detail.

- If this card attacks, it gains 400 ATK during the Damage Step only.
- That line alone mean that "Rush Rhino" gain 400 automatic no matter which he hit (without effect negated), so if he attacked monster with 1700 ATK points, then he can beat that monster down and inflicted 300 damages. If he hit a monster with 1900 DEF, then that protection monster is crushed under his hoof. But if you mean that "Rush Rhino" was being attacked, then he does dead from that - it's because it did not say "If this card battles..." instead of "If this card attacks..." --FredCat 00:50, January 23, 2012 (UTC)
