Forum:Help with Lv and Machiners

Two Questions:

1.Can I use Phantom of Chaos effect to copy "Silent Swordsman Lv3" name and use "Level Up!" on him? This combo does not seem to work in DS games, so I'm note sure if this combo is possible.

2.If Machiners Frontline is on my side of the field, and my Fusilier was destroyed by battle while being normal summoned without tributing, can I use the effect of Machiners Frontline to special summon a dark machine monster from my deck with 2600 or less atk, like Summon Reactor-AI? — This unsigned comment was made by 189.121.190.197 (talk • contribs) 02:19, February 12, 2010

1) You won't Special Summon anything.

"Level Up!" looks at the card text on the sent monster. "Phantom of Chaos" does not change its text - it only changes its effects and name. "Level Up!" will see that there are no monsters whose names are written in the text of "Phantom of Chaos", so it won't Summon anything.

2) "Machina Frontline" checks the monster's ATK/Attribute while in the Graveyard, so yes, you can Summon "Summon Reactor AI". There's even a ruling about it:

• "Machina Frontline" refers to the destroyed monster's ATK and Attribute while the destroyed monster is in the Graveyard when determining which monsters may be Special Summoned from the Deck.
  • Example: If "Fusilier Dragon, the Dual-Mode Beast" with 1400 Original ATK is destroyed by battle while it is being treated as an EARTH monster by "DNA Transplant", then "Fusilier Dragon, the Dual-Mode Beast" has 2800 ATK and is a DARK monster while in the Graveyard, so you can Special Summon a DARK Machine-Type monster with 2799 ATK or less.
