Im pretty new to yugioh and this is my first deck I have made myself, I have played a few times with it and its worked pretty well. I would really like some advice on it, like how I can improve it etc. Please no really expensive cards, I play yugioh for fun with friends not to win big tornaments for anything! Heres my light deck:
(Sorry I really didnt understand the template for listing your deck)
First off, I fixed your decklist for you. Don't worry about not understanding it, because at least you tried, which is a lot more than most people do. Monsters are in order of ATK and Spells/Traps are alphabetized because.... I'm OCD like that. Second, I'll offer some advice later, but I don't have the time to do so right now. Third and most importantly, sign your edits by typing four tildes (~) after your post. This adds a time stamp so we can tell which threads are legitimate and which ones were necrobumped. We really hate necrobumpers. Thanks. Lappyzard (talk • contribs) 23:08, February 23, 2011 (UTC)
I'm back, and there are several things I'd like to say about this deck: 1. It's 47 cards. It is highly recommended to stick to the 40 card minimum, as this increases your chances of drawing the card(s) you want/need, because the other cards won't get in the way as much. While it may not seem to make a huge difference, it really does. This is an easy task and you should take every advantage you get. 2. You have a lot of weak/unnecessary cards. This makes point 1 even more important. I'll recommend below to drop (remove) several of them. 3. You have a lot of inherent minuses. I'll explain what I mean by that: A minus is any card or combination of cards that ultimately causes you to reduce your Card Advantage. For example, Monster Reincarnation requires 2 cards in order to be used but only gets you one card. Your net gain is -1 in Card Advantage. I'll cite minuses as a reason for several of the cards I tell you to drop. 4. Your theme is shaky at best. Decks with a theme typically run better than those without, and a weak theme can be a sign of a weak deck.
Now for my recommendations:
Drop the following cards:
- -1 Wingweaver - A high-level Normal monster with decent stats (ATK and DEF). Not worth it.
- -1 Barrier Statue of the Heavens - Not a bad effect, but with such low stats it's only going to get run over (destroyed in battle). A waste of a summon.
- -1 Spell Striker - It doesn't fit in with the theme.
- -1 Skelengel - Unnecessary. Weak stats mean he just gets run over without any real gain.
- -1 Shield Wing - Doesn't fit the theme.
- -3 Lightning Vortex - Usually not a minus when played correctly, but ultimately an unwanted drain on the hand.
- -2 Lightwave Tuning - An inherent minus. You give up a Spell... so that you can give up 2+ monsters... so you can summon another monster. Not worth it.
- -1 Monster Reincarnation - Minus.
- -1 Nightmare's Steelcage - Nice when you need stall but annoying when you can't attack. Your Swords is enough.
- -1 Shine Palace - Equip Spells, unless they offer very powerful effects, are a waste of deck space. Minus.
- -1 Dark Bribe - Usually a Minus. Depends on the cost of the card it negates. Ultimately a bad idea though.
- -1 Jar of Greed - Only use this when you can't find a 40th card. It's a waste of space otherwise.
Replace them with the following cards: (Don't worry if you don't have or can't get them, just say so and I'll recommend a suitable substitute.)
- +1 Book of Moon - An extremely versatile card that disrupts many plays. Can also protect your own monster aganst Bottomless Trap Hole and the like.
- +1 Dark Hole - Field Clearer. It's a better Lightning Vortex. Just know when to use it.
- +1 Giant Trunade - With Heavy Storm and Cold Wave gone, you need all the Spell/Trap hate you can get. This is an excellent choice.
- +1 Mystical Space Typhoon - See Giant Trunade.
- +2 Bottomless Trap Hole - Excellent monster removal. Stops a lot of plays.
- +1 Solemn Judgment - One of the most powerful negation cards in existence. A Staple in every deck.
- +1 Torrential Tribute - A Trap card Dark Hole. Just as good.
Hope this helps, and best of luck! Lappyzard (talk • contribs) 23:50, February 23, 2011 (UTC)
Thank you for your help, the only cards I havnt got are bottemless trap hole, I have made the edits and will try the new deck out! Also I have a Angel 07 card, would this work in this deck? Or would it recire a lot of changes? Just an idea as I love the card itself!
It would work, just know when to use it. And I repeat, sign your edits by typing four tildes (~) after your post.
