Forum:Help with my psychics deck

From Yugipedia
Jump to: navigation, search

This is my psychics deck, its main purpose is to abuse the Psychic Path- Psychic Lifetrancer synergy to put as many counters on Brain Research Lab as possible (then shift the lifepoint damage with spell of pain) while taking advantage of Remove Brainwashing to use cards like Vicious Claw and Battle Teleportation without my opponent winning free mmonsters. I´d like some help to improve it, the only catch is all cards musy be either common or rare ( super, ultra and the like are far beyond my budget), any help is welcomed

If you are focusing on the Spell of Pain

If that is the main goal of your deck, shouldn't you run three copies of it, you run three copies of Brain Research Lab, you should run a Spell of Pain for each copy of Brain Research Lab, just a thought. Forget what I just said, I realized something when I re-read the card Brain Research Lab, though you should run at least 2 Spell of Pain, the quicker you get it to your hand the better. Run two or a searcher for that card, and then you need the ability to generate the Psychic Counters quickly, because you have to get that up to at least 8000 for a OTK before your opponent wears your LP down.

Throw in a Krebons or two, you only have the one tuner for your synchro summons, Krebons can generate the counters quickly, as his effect negates attacks, therefore he generates a Psychic Counter and stays on the field. You don't have alot of Psychic Monsters, change some of the non Psychic monsters to more helpful Psychics and you will generate the counters quicker. Again, just a thought. Good Deck Idea.

That is a sweet idea, your deck gave me yet another win condition to slide into mine, that is an awesome idea. I will help you with your deck, more but I have to go to work, I will attempt to help you out soon. That is an awesome deck idea, now we have to refine it. Good job friend.

u should side deck a watapon, his effect could negate the damage that u'd lose from brain research, also maybe side deck a neospacian air humming bird, u could use it 2 gain life, since physics focus on sacrafising life 2 get good effects, with air humming bird you could get some of that life back.

Spell of Pain Does not work with Brain Research Lab

Im sorry to burst your bubble but the wording in Brain Research Lab does not allow you to transfer damage you take to your opponent. Thats why Barrel Behind the door does not work with Brain Research Lab. It says when damage is inflicted while Brain Research lab states "take" damage. As well as the effects of Psychics being costs, not damage being inflicted. SPYMOFT 00:02, November 15, 2009 (UTC)

Edit: I have a psychic deck and the thought came to my head, but it doesn't work, you're better off going for a Psychic Swarm deck.SPYMOFT 00:02, November 15, 2009 (UTC)

It's effect damage, so far I don't know any relevant difference between "inflict damage to you" and "you take damage", Prime Material Dragon states "Any effect that would inflict damage to a player instead increases their Life Points by the same amount" and it DOES work with Brain Research Lab, on the other hand Rainbow Life says "whenever you would take damage you gain that amount of Life Points instead" and it covers both Piercing monsters and cards that read "inflict damage" like ceasefire. The reason Barrel Behind the door doesn't work with Brain Research Lab is because it's ruling says "You cannot activate "Barrel Behind the Door" against a Continuous Spell or Trap Card, an Equip Spell Card, or a Field Spell Card", and of course I'm not intending to use Spell of Pain for costs that'd be just silly. Edit: Spell of Pain and Prime Material Dragon also work with Against the Wind which uses the "take damage" wording HouseholdCatDeity 01:31, November 15, 2009 (UTC)

Let's find out

I thought the same thing, when I first read the cards, but Household Cat Diety is correct with his descriptions of the cards, I would say lets go to the ruling forum, and ask some of the certified judges.

I have asked the question on the ruling query forum

Now, we just have to wait till it gets answered.

Well it seems it doesn't work that way,but I have more uses for spell of Pain so I'm keeping it.This is an improved version with added tuners and more Psychics, surprisingly it almost follows the 1:1 ratio,

Is it ok? HouseholdCatDeity 23:50, November 17, 2009 (UTC)

It looks fine, have you attempted to playtest it against other decks, or on a virtual site. That is the best way to do it, there is a Deck's for Free forum, where they have a site link that allows you to playtest a deck, you could also proxy some of the cards that you don't have and playtest it against a real opponent's deck, that is the best way to test it out. It is free, to proxy, and you can more easily tell where it needs to be improved as you play it.

i think that u should add neospacian humming-bird, for life points, also u should add a hanewata 2 stop the brain reaserch damage, maybe 3 since u have 3 brains

The issue with hummingbird is it takes up an slot on the field and at least one of my normal summons, Hanewata could be usefull though since it can make a nice combo with a Remove Brainwashing/Revival Gift set up to let me summon Lifetrancer, in fact i'm looking for lv 1 tuners for that reason, thank you for the idea.HouseholdCatDeity 03:12, November 19, 2009 (UTC)

Update

This is the deck as of today, I'm still tryinng to get the hanewatas, genetic woman and extra copies of Remove Brainwashing. I still need an extra Psychic Lifetrancer and probably get an hyper psychic Blaster. However this deck still has trouble dealing with swarmers and stall decks in general. So any help is welcomed.(bold cards are cards meant to be replaced for the missing cards)
