Can Ancient City - Rainbow Ruins negate the activations of spell/ trap cards in a same chain? Holydragoncrusher 04:23, June 17, 2010 (UTC)
Rulings:
- This card's effect "You can send 1 "Crystal Beast" monster you control to the Graveyard to negate the activation of a Spell or Trap Card and destroy it." is activated in a Chain to a Spell or Trap Card. It is treated as Spell Speed 2, so you cannot Chain this effect to a Counter Trap Card. You can activate it multiple times in the same Chain. Sending a "Crystal Beast" monster you control to the Graveyard is a cost to activate this effect.--Leonhartzz 05:44, June 17, 2010 (UTC)
But Field Spells are Spell Speed 1.--Yugioh DED 17:26, June 17, 2010 (UTC)
This is a special case as this card has a special ruling attributed to it.-- HHTurtle (Talk) 17:34, June 17, 2010 (UTC)
Then if it can negate, can't it negate a counter trap?(spell speed 3)?--Yugioh DED 18:19, June 17, 2010 (UTC)
I just bolded the answer on Leonhartzz's post. The ruling is very clear about the negation effect.-- HHTurtle (Talk) 18:33, June 17, 2010 (UTC)
How do we differentiate which cards can activate their effects multiple times in a chain and which cards cannot? For example, how about Light and Darkness Dragon, Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV8 and cards with such effects? Holydragoncrusher 10:56, June 18, 2010 (UTC)
That's very easy. Read the rulings.-- HHTurtle (Talk) 11:36, June 18, 2010 (UTC)
- In general, you can activate effects like that multiple times in one Chain.
- "Light and Darkness Dragon" is an exception - if it didn't work that way, then you'd get an infinite loop with "Light and Darkness Dragon" trying to negate its own effect (or, trying to negate the effect of a second copy of it). You shouldn't extrapolate from it. --Deus Ex Machina (Talk) 19:23, June 18, 2010 (UTC)
Does that mean that Sorcerer of Dark Magic can activate its effect in the same chain? For example,
Chain 1: Mirror force is activated. Chain 2: Sorcerer of Dark Magic negates it Chain 3: Raigeki Break is activated to destroy any card on field.
So can Sorcerer of Dark Magic activates its effect to negate and destroy Raigeki Break? Holydragoncrusher 12:01, June 21, 2010 (UTC)
In this case, yes. --Gadjiltron 12:45, June 21, 2010 (UTC)
