Forum:New look for the forum indexes

What's everybody's thoughts on Template:Forum? This template should be able to handle everything on the current forum index pages, and appearancewise, it is based off of User:Falzar FZ/Sandbox2. Here's something that can be discussed. Should the "New Topic"/"Forum Search" column be the same colour or not?

I had the "New Topic" area light and the "Forum Search" area darker as a... subliminal message for "Use the forum search before making a new topic" xD -Falzar FZ- (talk page|useful stuff) 08:02, August 13, 2010 (UTC)

I'm not too sure that changes in colour tone will cause more people to use the Forum Search Box. Maybe if we embed a small subliminal message on the top that states "USE THIS BEFORE CREATING A NEW TOPIC!!!" in bright red and size 72...-- HHTurtle ^Talk   08:17, August 13, 2010 (UTC)

In my defense, I didn't know that was intentional - since the new topic box's background was the same as the background for the whole table, I thought maybe you had intended to have it colored differently. =) 「ダイノガイ千？！」^{? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000} 16:30, August 13, 2010 (UTC)

I've made some changes, including significantly reworking the Forumnav replacement to give each cell extra padding and lighter colors, and to give the whole thing a light border, and also giving the forum list table itself a border. I also removed the darker background on the new topic cell again, though personally I like it better the same color as the search cell. Must say I like it, looks very clean. And with the Search box, would it be possible, in the Card Rulings Forum, to just search in the Card Rulings Forum? I think that is the main reason for the search box anyway. With the typed message encouraging people to search in the forums, why not just add it into the text describing X Forum, in all caps.--BassNettoHikari2 (talk • contribs) 17:17, August 13, 2010 (UTC)

I don't know if that's possible, even when just using the search box already present on every page (specifically, I know you can search on a given page and its subpages (and Wikipedia, for instance, makes extensive use of such functionality), but I do not know if there is any way to limit the search to a specific category, which is what would be required in this case). 「ダイノガイ千？！」^{? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000} 17:38, August 13, 2010 (UTC)

The changes are good.

As for the search; just put "Ruling" as well as what you want to find. e.g. (use "Debris Dragon Ruling" in search and the first few should be on "Debris Dragon" and are from the Rulings area; then after that are ones from the other boards). -Falzar FZ- (talk page|useful stuff) 02:12, August 14, 2010 (UTC)
