Forum:Nobleman eater bug?

The OCG rulings say if there isn't two legitimate targets on the field, then the effect doesn't go off. The scenario arose yesterday, and I played it that way because I had no other basis. Here's what happened:

I had face down Nobleman-Eater Bug my opponent had face up Destiny Hero - Diamond Dude, there were some cards in each of our back rows, but nothing that would be concerned with the above query.

My opponent attacks with Diamond Dude, thus destroying my Noble man eater bug, but there aren't two monsters on the field, so the effect of Nobleman-Eater Bug can't resolve. He was destroyed by the battle, and there was only one more monster, that being Diamond Dude. Now, the way we played it out, is the effect of the bug didn't resolve, my bug was destroyed and her monster stayed put. How should that have resolved?

There is an inconsistency in the OCG (Japanese version) and TCG (English Version) ruling. The OCG rulings state that if there aren't two legitimate targets for it's effect to activate.

(Though in your case I think Nobleman-Eater Bug would destroy itself and Diamond Dude.)

The English ruling contradict this, by saying: "If "Nobleman-Eater Bug" is the only monster on the field and it is flipped face-up, then it destroys itself with its effect. "

Which would imply that you don't need two monsters on the field.--67.177.13.234 19:10, December 2, 2009 (UTC)

If you're playing the OCG, then the effect of "Nobleman-Eater Bug" activates, but does not target anything and resolves without effect.
If you are playing the TCG, then "Nobleman-Eater Bug" will target as many monsters as possible. It will target "Destiny Hero - Diamond Dude" and will destroy it.
