Forum:Player Terms

I've been thinking about the terms we use as kind of a card players slang, words that newer players wouldn't necessarily know what they meant. I've only come up with a few, maybe you can think of more?

Pull - To open a pack of cards. This is used mainly when talking about getting the rare card from the pack. EX: I just pulled a really rare card!

Bounce - To return a card from the field to the hand, usually when referring to your opponents cards. EX: Hane-Hane can bounce your Summoner Monk.

Spin - To return a card from the field to the top of the deck, again usually used when referring to your opponents cards. EX: Raiza the Storm Monarch can spin your opponents card back to the top of their deck.

Drop - When either you or your opponent (usually your opponent) summons a powerful monster, normally used in cases where there was a special summoning condition that was almost too easy. EX: I thought I was winning until my opponent Dropped an Archlord Kristya / Dark Armed Dragon / Judgment Dragon / Lava Golem, etc. on me.

Any others that you know?Vulpine (talkcontribs) 18:15, August 11, 2010 (UTC)

Burn: Effect Damage

FTK/OTK/NTK: First Turn/One Turn/No Turn Kill

Lockdown: When a player has run out of options, or all of his options would cause them to loose due to a strategic combination of cards in a combo.

Clogging/Clogged: When all of 1 type of zone are filled up: I.E. My Spell and Trap Card Zones are clogged!

Backrow: Spell and Trap Card Zones.

Bury: Discard.

SS: Special Summon.

All I can think of for now. --Drew-Gi-Oh! (talk) 18:34, August 11, 2010 (UTC)

Um, You may know this, but because of a certain countries history, "SS" isn't something people should be saying allot, I'm just sayin'.--Berfomet (talkcontribs) 18:57, August 11, 2010 (UTC)

I know, but when you're in IRC, it's way easier to say that then type "I special summon Jurrac Hera in Defense Mode. Oh, you destroyed him and my Stauriko? Now I'll Special Summon Hera. Now I special summon two Jurrac Tokens. You destroyed Hera? Then my Token? Now I'll Special Summon Hera again..." --Drew-Gi-Oh! (talk) 19:14, August 11, 2010 (UTC)

Excellent link... but most of the terms we've got here aren't even listed there o_0Vulpine (talkcontribs) 16:30, August 12, 2010 (UTC)

Where I duel and the duelists I duel with use these terms.

Dump: ususally used when cards are predetermined to go somewhere because of a card effect.

Grab: used when you get to select a card from the deck/graveyard/RFP zone/ hand and add that card to the correct place

  • Ex: I activate RotA and grab Stratos.

All that I can think of right now. --184.96.231.210 (talk) 04:55, August 16, 2010 (UTC)

Dies: usually used when a card is destroyed

Well that's what people use over here. Fallensilence (talkcontribs) 17:39, August 16, 2010 (UTC)
