Wow that didn't publish... how sad. Erm can you guys help me im an ABSOLUTE NEWBIE at YUGIOH! duel monsters.

You see i found one of my old games loitering around. its calle yugioh! GX duel academy, I have been trying to beat the cyan mop head, along with chumfree but they beat the tar outa me real easily too.

So here's my question how can i play a fire deck like the starter fire deck effectively. If anyone wants me to play with them to teach me sure i don't mind, i just donn't have actual cards. Ryptide (talkcontribs) 01:43, May 18, 2013 (UTC)

I'd first recommend that you post your Deck and also a list of cards you have at your disposal, but that might also present the risk of an unusually long list. Well, go for it. --Gadjiltron (talkcontribs) 02:20, May 18, 2013 (UTC)

ok hang on.

Ok here are my cards

This is my fire starter deck. i know its probably not great but its what i have right now. can you tell me how to make it better or get more use out of its sacrificial nature. 184.144.136.55 (talk) 03:50, May 18, 2013 (UTC)

I'll have to say i'm doing better at dueling.basic fire deck isn't my playstyle. I found out that the Static deck is my playstyle i just got a few domination 3 round wins with it unaltered. i'll list the cards... just need a bit advice to make it stronger...

Hereis the STATIC DECK:

Those are my cards for the static deck let me know some options to explore to make a stronger version of it.Ryptide (talkcontribs) 23:24, May 18, 2013 (UTC)

Ah, the most common flaw in every beginner's deck: too many single cards. And too many situational cards.

Start by removing the effectless Fusion monsters and their components. Especially when they involve effectless monsters that you can't summon easily. They're not worth the effort. Same goes for any Ritual Monsters unless you're building your Deck around them.

Now, for someone who isn't so experienced, a Beatdown Deck would suit you nicely, since it's very easy to play. The entire strategy to this Deck type is to bring out strong low-level monsters, use effects to deal with anything bigger, and just bash away at the opponent's LP. So, look for low-level monsters with amazing ATK points (like Vorse Raider) but also pay attention to any drawbacks those powerful monsters may have.

Next, look for Spells and Traps that can help you take care of opponent's monsters that are too big for your own. Smashing Ground and Fissure should be good Spells to look out for, and Sakuretsu Armor and Compulsory Evacuation Device are nice Traps to use.

Then, for every good card you have, try to find more copies of it. However, try not to let your Deck count exceed 40. You want a small Deck to maximise your chances of drawing the card that can help.

I also believe there's some position in the game where you could work on the many Duel Puzzles and gain DP for it. If you do gain DP, take that opportunity to either splurge on packs or use the password machine to seek out single cards.

With a Beatdown Deck, you should also be able to clear the "Battle Damage" and "destroy in battle" exam practicals no sweat. You'll need to build other Decks designed for the other topics, though. --Gadjiltron (talkcontribs) 01:49, May 19, 2013 (UTC)

thanks for the suggestions, I'm trying to learn more about spells and traps so i'll satart with those and yes ritual fusion monsters aren't all that great unfortunately since normal tribute monsters are stronger with a rare few exceptions.

I don't understand how ritual monster can be strong when a few level fours are stronger, can you explain to me about them too...i know they require specific conditions but how can they be worth setting up?

I know counterspells are quite handy. and i love special effect monsters with usefull abilities.i kinda figure fire deck wasnt for me since it revolves around sacrificial conditions. too much sacrificing. you really have to set it up well for it to work.

I love dark types from my deck, they are strong and some of them have really handy abilities...yomi is fun very fun to set up. just jaden is going to be a pain with his elemental heroes, he tends to use field cards alot.

Hopefully i can set up somehting once i get enough packs.Ryptide (talkcontribs) 02:26, May 19, 2013 (UTC)

Those Ritual Monsters are very old monsters, dating back to the early days of the game, where Effect Monsters were rare and Normal Monsters had lower stat averages. In exchange for a convoluted summon requirement, these Ritual Monsters usually promise free power without using up your Normal Summon. And, of course, unlike modern cards, having above-average stats was enough to qualify the Ritual part then.
Man, how the game has changed.
If there's one good thing about FIRE Decks, it's their ability to inflict Effect Damage. Build a burn/lock Deck stocked with monsters that inflict Effect Damage (Solar Flare Dragon comes to mind), and you can ace that Effect Damage test with ease. --Gadjiltron (talkcontribs) 04:24, May 19, 2013 (UTC)

wow thats kinda cool. but I did remove the fusions monsters and ritual monsters from my status deck. i took things into consideration. can't wait to test out me new deck. its 40cards i think exactly 40 cards.Ryptide (talkcontribs) 10:22, May 19, 2013 (UTC)
