Forum:Pyramid of Light Seal of Orichalcos deck

Just an idea I had, recently. I wanted to make a Movie Sphinx deck for quite a while, but couldn't figure out the best way to do it, until The Seal of Orichalcos came out, and I came up with an awesome combo:

  • 1. Special Summon Andro and Teleia.
  • 2. Slap down Seal
  • 3. Destroy Andro and Teleia with Seal's effect
  • 4. Bring out Theinen with its own effect.
  • 5. Boost its ATK up to 7000 ATK with its own effect, then find some way of boosting its ATK up another 1000+ ATK to swing for an OTK.

It sounds legit, I just haven't tested it, yet. Any suggestions on how to make this deck better and more refined would be appreciated. Vorpal Storm Pony (talkcontribs) 14:35, October 2, 2012 (UTC)

You need more search/draw cards, take out both "Two-Pronged Attack" and 1 "Seal" (you can only activate one per duel anyway) and add cards like "Foolish Burial", "Mystic Piper", "Card Destruction", "Hand Destruction", "Gold Sarcophagus" or other similar card.
Note that you can't (unfortunelly) Special Summon the Sphinx monsters with "Uniflora"...

Not from your graveyard, but Uniflora summons monsters from your graveyard or your hand, so it can bring out the Sphinxes from your hand just fine.
I thought about putting in Gold Sarcophagus, but I don't know what to take out for it. Two-Pronged Attack is basically given for a Sphinx deck, in case I don't get out the Seal, so I can't really take that out. And Mystic Piper I can't use in this deck, because Uniflora needs a graveyard of nothing but Beasts to be used. Vorpal Storm Pony (talkcontribs) 15:08, October 2, 2012 (UTC)
2 corrections from my post (sorry xD):
  • Don't use "Mystic Piper", you won't be able to use the effect of "Uniflora".
  • I meant Note that you can't (unfortunelly) Special Summon the Sphinx monsters from the Graveyard with "Uniflora"...

Two-Pronged Attack is really worthless. Try Needle Ceiling or Storm instead. Battlemaniac (talkcontribs) 21:58, October 3, 2012 (UTC)

Needle Ceiling is probably better for you, even if Two-Pronged Attack will trigger Theinen's effect, many decks this format seem to be able to summon or have at least 2 monsters on the field at any given time. You can destroy your monsters and your opponents, but you'll end up getting a monster to replace the ones you lost. ---Dark Ace SP (Talk) 03:49, October 4, 2012 (UTC)
I have to strongly disagree with all of you; Needle Ceiling, from what I'm reading, is a lot more situational than Two-Pronged Attack; with the former, I need to wait until the opponent practically has field advantage over me to trigger it, while with TPA, I can just slap down the two Sphinxes, and the moment the opponent tries to play even one monster, I can spring it and kill two birds with one stone. I just don't see the versatility in Needle Ceiling over Two-Pronged Attack, so I'm going to eschew the former for the latter, thanks. Vorpal Storm Pony (talkcontribs) 12:57, October 4, 2012 (UTC)

I suggest Special Hurricane. It costs you an extra discard, and that's bad, but it can clear your opponent's field. and it's a spell, so no afraid from MSTs. Also, if I were you, I would focus less on Uniflora, and more on drawing Pyramid of Light. As the Sphinx monsters cannot be revived, you may put in Beckoning Light. It can add the Sphinx monsters to your hand so you can immediatley special summon them. Tree Otter semms pretty pointless to me, so I would take it out. And 1 more thing: this deck is pretty slow, so to be a little bit more competitive, you should add some basic stall cards, like Swords of Revealing Light, and some anti-meta cards to slow down the opponent.Nephthy (talkcontribs) 14:06, October 4, 2012 (UTC)

Special Hurricane I can see, but right now, I don't have any, so I'm going to have to make due with Two-Pronged Attack until I can get them. Beckoning Light seems to be rather risky, dropping my entire hand to bring back a few monsters. I would think A Feather of the Phoenix or Monster Reincarnation would be better. As for removing Tree Otter, what would you suggest I replace him with? Remember, Uniflora is unable to work if there's any non-Beasts in the graveyard. Finally, aside from A Cat of Ill Omen or Gold Sarcophagus (both of which seem really slow, to me), what would you suggest I do to try and get out the Pyramids?
