Forum:Red dragon archfiend vs searchers

If I attack a defense mode apprentice magician with RDA, will apprentice search out another one?

If I attack a defense mode Zoma the spirit with RDA, will I take effect damage?

Can you please explain yourself, because I got into a argument with practically everyone in my local.

Is there any other way to confirm this other than Wikia?24.193.88.193 02:53, December 25, 2009 (UTC)

"If "Red Dragon Archfiend" attacks a Defense Position "Giant Rat," etc., and destroys it with its effect, "Giant Rat's" effect does not activate because it is destroyed by "Red Dragon Archfiend's" effect before it would be sent to the Graveyard by battle.[1]"
That's an official ruling. --Blue (Talk) 02:58, December 25, 2009 (UTC)
See the Breakdown of the Battle Phase. "Red Dragon Archfiend" destroys the monsters after Damage Calculation (which is Substep 5" in the TCG). At this time, the attacked monster which was destroyed by battle is still on the field, so the effect of "Red Dragon Archfiend" will destroy it. The attacked monster was physically removed from the field by the effect of "Red Dragon Archfiend", so the monster is considered to be "destroyed and sent to the Graveyard by the effect of "Red Dragon Archfiend"", and not treated as being "destroyed and sent to the Graveyard by battle". Thus, the effects of "Apprentice Magician" and "Zoma the Spirit" won't activate.
The ruling that Blue quoted appeared on the official UDE FAQ. It is archived on Yu-Judges, in case you need a non-Wikia source.

Since Konami took over UDE, do these rulings still apply? Is there a Konami source for rulings for RDA? Thanks24.193.88.193 04:26, December 25, 2009 (UTC)

Everything that was on the UDE site came directly from Konami. The quoted ruling is from Konami. --Deus Ex Machina (Talk) 16:35, December 25, 2009 (UTC)

What about if RDA atks a facedown D.D warrior lady? Does RDA get removed or does D.D's effect disappear because it's destroyed by RDA's effect?DeathCaster 08:25, December 26, 2009 (UTC)

RDA activates and resolves in substep 5, and DD warrior lady activates and resolves in substep 6. RDA destroys DDWL before the step where DDWL can use her effect. Falzar FZ 08:30, December 26, 2009 (UTC)

does that mean stardust can actually kill RDA while in defence...?

If Stardust Dragon id destroyed by battle, then he cannot activate his effect to negate Red Dragon Archfiend's effect. If Stardust Dragon survives the battle, then ce can be chained. ATEMVEGETA (Talk) 15:50, December 26, 2009 (UTC)
In the TCG, it is implied that the effect of "D.D. Warrior Lady" does not activate.
In the OCG, it is strongly implied that the effect of "D.D. Warrior Lady" will activate. It is ruled that if "D.D. Warrior Lady" is flipped by battle while "Rivalry of Warlords" is active, then first "Rivalry of Warlords" will destroy "D.D. Warrior Lady", and afterwards the effect of "D.D. Warrior Lady" will activate. This situation should be the same.

What situation are you referred to? Stardust Dragon's? Also, just to mention that Rivalry of Warlords does not "destroy" monsters. It just "sends" them to the Graveyard. ATEMVEGETA (Talk) 23:08, December 26, 2009 (UTC)
I was thinking of the ruling on "D.D. Warrior" vs "Red Dragon Archfiend"... although, now that I look at it again, it doesn't specifically say that the effect of "D.D. Warrior" won't activate. I guess it would be the same in both _CGs.
After "Rivalry of Warlords" has resolved, monsters are destroyed by the condition that "Rivalry of Warlords" creates.

Right! Rivalry of Warlords has already resolved. I missed that! ATEMVEGETA (Talk) 00:40, December 27, 2009 (UTC)
