Forum:What are the Top 10 Meta Decks of 2010 in OCG, TCG, or both?

From Yugipedia

-I asked this because it's 2010 now. Many new archetypes and cards are released. So I was thinking, what do you think are the Top 10 Meta Decks of 2010 in OCG, TCG, or both.

-For me, it looks like this:

1. Synchro Cat

  • 1. Infernity Deck
  • 2. Anti-Meta Deck
  • 3. Macro Monarch Deck
  • 4. Blackwing Deck
  • 5. Lightsworn Deck
  • 6. /Assault Mode Deck
  • 7. Plant Synchro Deck/GigaVise Deck(I don't know how they call it)
  • 8. Gladiator Beast Deck
  • 9. Zombie Synchro
  • 10. Frog Deck(maybe not YET, hehehe)

-That's what I think.

Jampong 12:31, March 29, 2010 (UTC)

It's probably just me but I get absoloutly crushed by gladiator beasts no matter what >:( OjaOwnage 14:08, March 29, 2010 (UTC)

i get crushed by blackwings man --Suvshogun 14:19, March 29, 2010 (UTC)

I really doubt that Infernities are better then Blackwings or Lightsworns, based on what I've seen. AllanAokage 16:00, March 29, 2010 (UTC)

                                                                            i run fortune ladys

real list

0. Chaos Monarchs 1. Blackwings 2. Brakkuwingus 3. KristyaSworn 4. Glads 5. Zombies 6. VayuSworn 7. ZombieSworn 8. Twilight 9. Gigavise 10. Monarchs 11. Chaos 12. Hopeless 13. Magical Explosion 14. Gadgets 98. Aliens 99. LV Dragons

Lol nice list. What is Brakkuwingus?

For me

  • 1 Infernities/BW(Both will appear on top of Tournaments)
  • 2 Anti-Metas
  • 3 Twilight(for me just Twilight will appear LS Dead)
  • 4 X-Sabers(With Emmersblade)
  • 5 Some Splashed Decks(Eatos,Monarchs,Gladial Beasts and etc.)
Don't count on BW and Twilight top-tiering any more. BW lost one of its Black Whirlwinds and one of its Allures. Twilight went to 1 Necro, 1 Lumina, 2 Honest, 1 Allure, 1 Charge of the Light Brigade, and 1 Tragoedia. So that's not good. I think that this format, Infernities and X-Sabers will be the two biggest. Anti-Meta... not so much, IMHO, as you can now only have two Skill Drain and two Royal Oppression. Runer5h 21:25, March 29, 2010 (UTC)Runer5h

I made this List before about Boggar Knight Twilight is Still Strong I had seen him on Tops f but BW is still very Strong but XX-Saber in TCG will on against BW and Infernity Without Siding

6 Cat Synchro decks placed in the top 8 at Tampa regionals.. Absolute Zero is also very good

Batteriespwn 00:36, March 30, 2010 (UTC)

Will someone plese explain to me why Infernitys are going to be so great? I mean, I was under the assumption that X-Sabers were going to rule for awhile.. 174.59.106.246 00:28, March 31, 2010 (UTC)

I want to say Fabled/Darkworld decks might make these lists soon, better than frogs IMO. 76.103.133.152 01:31, March 31, 2010 (UTC)

Infernities have a large amount of quick synchro power, and in this format no other deck is faster. As for frogs, no frogs are no top tier idk why you would even say that. Just look at the decks topping in regionals. Synchro Cat, GB, Blackwing, some Machina Gadget, anti-meta, Lightsworn hybrids

Batteriespwn 14:31, March 31, 2010 (UTC)

I believe that everybody rules out Fortune Ladies. . .

-First of all, what is Brakkuwingus?Second, I see Infernity on the top more than Lightsworns/Twilights or Blackwing/VayuSworn, because all of the other deck are hit with the banlist. Lightsworns lose CotLB, Lumina, Necro Gardna, even Foolish Burial. Twilight lose the parts Lightsworn lose, w/ an addition of Allure and Tragoedia. Blackwings lose Allure and Black Whirlwind, VayuSworn lose some Lightsworn parts, and other Blackwing supports, but most especially they lost BfaDD. Infernity will be seen on top until Trishula and Infernity Gun hit the list.

Jampong 01:55, April 1, 2010 (UTC)

Dragon Decks Unknown.

I saw LV dragons up there and as much as I love them I dont think they have a chance at being in the top 20.

As for Hopeless. Well a pure dark oriented Hopeless build is a death sentence nowadays. Even back last ban list it still was losing steam due to allure going to 2 then 1 and solemn going to 1. With necro and allure down to 1 now and crush card long gone a dark oriented Hopeless build I don't see placing either.

That new diaster build on the other hand I dont know yet. My varient of it has been cleaning house in my area beating bkwing and LS builds pretty consistenlty. I don't have enough experiance running it agaisnt GB or Infernity so I don't know how it would fair agaisnt those.

I dont see it going to number 1 but I could easily see it in the top 5.

Entering Awkward Stage

First, what do you mean by Anti-Meta Decks being meta? If you think Koaki Meirus, then I disagree because I think that they still have a long way to go.

As for the others, I see X-Sabers being in the top 5, maybe even pawning Blackwings. I mean come on, they are just performing quite well for the time being and Konami is still releasing more X/XX-Sabers goodies.

One more thing I'd like to say.... GOODBYE LIGHTSWORNS!!! It's about time some of their cards get restricted.--Hide Head Turtle 10:06, April 2, 2010 (UTC)

I think Blackwings will be destroyed soon. As they did to the Zombies. Ancientgearking 10:36, April 2, 2010 (UTC)

Not even close

The top tier decks in the TCG right now are Synchro Cat/Hamster using the Flamvell engine. Coming in close second would be Machiner variants/Final Countdown decks/random Monarch variants/X-Sabers. In OCG, the top deck is Infernities. ElectroBlade 12:42, April 2, 2010 (UTC)

--Is Morphtronic Deck on the Top?

Jampong 23:28, April 2, 2010 (UTC)

Don't be stupid. ElectroBlade 04:24, April 3, 2010 (UTC)

I didn't know Final Countdown was that good. It can stall that well nowadays? And no, Morphs are NOT on top. Runer5h 04:56, April 3, 2010 (UTC)Runer5h

Yes, very well. 3 Zero Gardnas, Wabokus, Battlefaders, T-Roars and Thunder of Ruler, Gravity Bind/Level Limit, and a lot more ridiculous stuff. Really boring to play against lol. ElectroBlade 05:12, April 3, 2010 (UTC)

Morphs are not top, but I got caught off guard while dueling them. They out-beatsticked my GB deck, and I couldn't do anything about it. What is worse is that it was on the IRC of this wikia. -bewk 18:04, April 3, 2010 (UTC)

Relys too much on a single card

I mean you still need to draw that one card and even with 3 Final and two gold sarcof your odds are 25% at best. Its like those self milling exodia decks u sometimes see. Wins enough to be mentioned but rarely makes it far in tourneys. Not to mention prohibition or those two counter trap cards that lock out or make u mill out what they destroy can shut that deck down singlehandely. Steelfallenangel 08:43, April 3, 2010 (UTC)

Are we forgetting that there are cards that help you go through your decks in a more controlled fashion and stall at the same time, e.g. Cyber Valley.--Hide Head Turtle 10:29, April 3, 2010 (UTC)

The deck also uses 3 Rainbow Life, 3 Jar of Greed/Reckless, 3 Legacies of Yata, 2-3 Golden Ladybug, etc. It's really not that hard to stall out the opponent. ElectroBlade 01:36, April 4, 2010 (UTC)

Rise of the Koa'Ki

I really hope the Koa'Ki Meriu can get in there, at lest at no.8. --Azure Knight-Zeo 01:40, April 4, 2010 (UTC)

They are definitely not in the top eight, Koa'ki Meirus are more likely in the top twenty. -bewk 02:42, April 4, 2010 (UTC)

How so? With the rithg cards I be the could maybe make a great deck. --Azure Knight-Zeo 14:10, April 4, 2010 (UTC)
Koa'kis are weak because of their 'discard the Core' cost. Swarming with them in impossible. -bewk 15:44, April 4, 2010 (UTC)

The discard and reveal cost just saps so much power out of them. Not only do their effects rely too much on one single, but their survival also depends on it. This causes them to not be able swarm much. Good meta decks can really bring on the special summon. Koaki Meirus just aren't developed enough to handle that.

Not too mention that although their ATKs are high for their level, it doesn't guarantee survival. This is because other decks can boost ATKs even by a little bit, e.g. Morphtronics.

I'm sorry, you guys just saw me rant about Koaki Meirus. But honestly, I don't hate them. In fact, I absolutely love the them. I love anti-meta but they feel like they are in their infancy. So until they are all grown up, I won't be bringing them to duels often but I'll still hold on to them.--Hide Head Turtle 02:07, April 5, 2010 (UTC)

In Washington State

From my understanding I believe this would be the current meta or at least this is how it is for WA.

1. Cat Synchro/ Flamvell Cat

2. Blackwings

3. Gladiator Beasts

4. Zombies/Zombie Monarchs

5. Twilight

6. Machina Gadgets

7. Plants

8. Monarchs/Chaos Monarchs

I list them in this order because this was how the Regionals looked like. This wasn't the top 8 or anything this was just the amount percentage of decks that were there.

For the top 8;

3 Cats

1 Zombie

2 Blackwings

2 Gladiators

Pretty typical really, so this is what I believe to be the list and during the release of The Shining Darkness, I can see Infernities to be either tier 1 or 2. Hard to say at the moment.

I get what you mean, but somehow I get this eerie feeling that because Synchro cat is going out of controlled will cause Rescue Cat to be Forbidden during Sep 2010 or at least limited or semi.--Hide Head Turtle 02:07, April 5, 2010 (UTC)

It is limited already. -bewk 03:00, April 5, 2010 (UTC)

Whoops, sorry I can't believe I missed that. Then I think that it will be forbidden soon.--Hide Head Turtle 03:26, April 5, 2010 (UTC)

Nah. -bewk 03:53, April 5, 2010 (UTC)

X-Saber Airbellum Semi/Limited? Ancientgearking 09:32, April 5, 2010 (UTC)

--They wo'nt forbid the cat.

Jampong 01:28, April 6, 2010 (UTC)

But seriously, give this some thought. What would happen to the meta if they killed the cat?--Hide Head Turtle 05:12, April 7, 2010 (UTC)

If cat died?

Well GBs would take a minor hit. Its still even at one a great searcher for them. Cat oriented synchro builds would be completly gone. Or would be reborn in a much weaker format.

All I know is I keep three Discords sidedecked to try and stall out cat decks and it only works about half the time Steelfallenangel 08:22, April 8, 2010 (UTC)

My top 5 list is:

Gadgets/ Machina Gadgets Blackwings Gladiator Beasts Kristyasworn Twilight

Machina??? I heard about them but I've never really seen them in action. How do they play? fast? strong?--Hide Head Turtle 11:08, April 8, 2010 (UTC)

I'd say Control. Anyways, Click for Machina Gadget Deck. BTW, that decklist was for Sept 09 banlist. March 10 banlist actually helped it, slowing every other deck and giving them more Smashing Grounds to play with. Falzar FZ 11:12, April 8, 2010 (UTC)

Interesting, the 1st place winner's deck looks like it uses control and I'd even say bordering on anti-meta.--Hide Head Turtle 14:24, April 8, 2010 (UTC)

--My friend was in that tournament. I know the 2nd placer, but the 1st placer isn't familiar to me

Jampong 03:28, April 9, 2010 (UTC)

It is anti-meta, but since the topic is Top 10 Meta Decks, normally, anti-meta be allowed in since it counters meta, meaning it would seem like it's good, which is why I say control, to make it count xD and since the deck works against normal decks as well as meta decks. Falzar FZ 14:43, April 8, 2010 (UTC)

blackwings #1 :D

i say blackwings cuz even though people say its been weakened cuz of black whirlwinds semilimiting and gales limiting it really hasnt it just went form a cheap deck to a fair deck with the ban list my blackwings beat glad beasts, removes, macro monarchs, infernitys (damn proxys ¬.¬),and twilight decks but ive never heard about flamcat or w/e decks...can someone explain? o_O? Raiga 03:06, April 9, 2010 (UTC)

I agree with you here. Blackwings still have a lot of speed left. As for Flamvell Cat, I've seen it before and here is my post on the matter at the Decks of the next format page:

BEWK, Runer5h, I'm not joking. The horror, the horror!!!! I've played against Flamvell Cat and it's damn scary. It's not just Rescue Cat. Flamvell Firedog can always bring out tuners to synchro summon and that's just the beginning. When you think by destroying their synchro monster, that you'd have won. You couldn't be more wrong because they can always use Rekindling and mass ss from the Graveyard to bring a new army of Synchros.

So yeah, I lost badly. It was amazing, there was so much synergy. It makes me itching to make my own Flamvell Cat deck.--Hide Head Turtle 05:33, April 9, 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, I checked it out after hearing about it, and it looks amazing. Runer5h 19:33, April 9, 2010 (UTC)Runer5h
ok today i went vs my friend who made a flamvellcat and wow lol he got out goyo guardian and brionac on his first turn then got out collosal fighter and stardust dragon on the second its good and it took me a while to beat it XD but other then that its an awsome deck Raiga 21:04, April 9, 2010 (UTC)
What deck do you use? I use GBs. That Ryko really bugs me, and so does those Rekindlings... Side in some Noblemen of Crossouts, and your good to go. -bewk 21:19, April 9, 2010 (UTC)
"X-Sabers" should be near the top if constructed right. They have "Saber Hole" for summon control, natural swarming, and "XX-Saber Boggart Knight" should bring forth quick summons of "Hyunlei". DemonGodAsura 21:32, April 9, 2010 (UTC)

i use blackwings but i use cards that alot of people dont use like pot of avarice and elphin the raven (my fav blackwing he looks awsome and helps out alot :D) Raiga 21:47, April 9, 2010 (UTC)

Cool. -bewk 21:59, April 9, 2010 (UTC)

Top ten in both ocg and tcg.

My list is this

1. Blackwings (more consistent than infernity) 2. Infernity (focused on otk, so can be not as consistent) 3. Lightsworn variations, such as kristyasworn and twilight 4. Glads 5. Flamvell cat 6. Monarch builds 7. anti-meta 8. gigavice 9. x-sabers 10. hopeless dragon builds, especially with the upcoming surging dragon night dragoequites coming in august.

in order to beat flamvell synchro cat and the infernities

side in some remove from play cards it would spam both of the decks--Bwinggale 18:13, April 11, 2010 (UTC)

What I think

So far I think the meta is this:

  • 1) Gladiator Beasts
  • 2) Blackwings
  • 3) Quickdraw Plants (I need to see more of this in action)
  • 4) Flamvells
  • 5) Synchro Cat
  • 6) Gadgets (Machina version too)
  • 7) Lightsworn

I would say the first three or four are in no particular order. --Sub (Talk | Contribs) 03:42, April 12, 2010 (UTC)

Say that again. I could have sworn that you said that QUICKDRAW PLANTS would be a top 3 deck. What is that anyways, and what makes you think it's good? Also, as I stated, I really don't think that GBs are returning to the meta now. Runer5h 03:50, April 12, 2010 (UTC)Runer5h

I think:

  • 1: Infernity
  • 2: Blackwing/Vayu/Blackwing-Opression
  • 3: Lightsworn
  • 4: Synchro Cat/Gladiator Beast
  • 5: Flamvell/Zombie

Quickdraw Plant Explanation

This post is mostly in response to Runer5h, but I think everybody should get to know this deck a little better anyway. Quickdraw Plants are basically what they sound like. You use Quickdraw Synchron and Dandylion to synchro summon monsters such as Drill Warrior, Nitro Warrior, Turbo Warrior, Junk Archer, Road Warrior, and soon Junk Destroyer. Those monsters were always good, but their respective synchrons were not worth putting in a deck (except Junk Synchron. What most people do is spam Drill Warrior and Dandylion to set up tokens as tributes for Caius the Shadow Monarch, Light and Darkness Dragon, Prime Material Dragon, etc., or as tokens for better synchro summoning power. Since Drill Warrior can't be hit by Bottomless Trap Hole upon returning to the field during the stand-by phase, he'll almost always be safe. Against Glads you bring out Turbo Warrior. Some variants use Road Warrior and Cyber Valley for huge card advantage. The thing about this deck is that it's able to adapt to almost any situation (just like Yusei). The biggest match-up problem is most likely Blackwing Oppression, but Quickdraw Plants usually run a pair of Dust Tornado to handle Royal Oppression The deck also runs the normal plant stuff such as 2x Lonefire, 2x Dandylion, 1x Tytannial, and usually 1x Mystic Tomato. --Sub (Talk | Contribs) 01:56, April 13, 2010 (UTC)

Sounds a bit weird, is Dandylion the only plant in the deck for synchro support? But this could the future of meta. I gotta see this in action.--Hide Head Turtle 02:26, April 13, 2010 (UTC)

Now that is odd... and intriguing. Kind of a neat idea. Turbo Warrior is immune to Gyzarus and Murmillo, so that's good... I suppose that it could work, assuming you get Dandylion in-hand to combo with. Runer5h 02:54, April 13, 2010 (UTC)Runer5h
Here is a YouTube video that shows off the Drill Warrior part. IMO he isn't using Drill Warrior to it's full effectiveness. Remember that you can grab back any monster from the grave, so if he has extra tokens he can bring back Caius, LaDD, or even DAD if he runs it. --Sub (Talk | Contribs) 23:15, April 13, 2010 (UTC)

Lol, Yusei-hime huh? That was insane and funny. The guy was practically recycling his Dandylion every turn. It definitely is an interesting deck.--Hide Head Turtle 14:14, April 14, 2010 (UTC)

SJC Edison

I'm not sure if you all noticed, but there were a high number of Quickdraw Plants (they call it Quickdraw Dandywarrior =\) in the top 32 at SJC Edison. Right now the final match is between Quickdraw Plants and Oppression Gadgets (with Doomcaliber Knight). I'll post an update once the match has been decided. --Sub (Talk | Contribs) 23:35, April 25, 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, yeah... (grudgingly hands Sub 5 bucks)
Actually, in reality, I'm impressed and pleased that innovation wins out. Runer5h 23:41, April 25, 2010 (UTC)Runer5h
