Japanese card names

why should we put the English translation of the Japanese name in the Trivia section? it doesn't make sense. Can't we just put it in the card article itself? AnnaV 20:06, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

Yawn

  • ...humna, humna? Yeah, k, sure, why not. -- Huajun Chen 21:30, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
    • Hax the internal error. Plus no way, Mr. Shemlock Clover and Lucky Charms! -- Huajun Chen 21:47, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
      • I'm not a third world assassin. -- Huajun Chen 22:02, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
        • You leaving? -- Huajun Chen 22:53, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

Citing Sources

Some things don't need citing, but what about some Trivia pages, like on Compulsory Evacuation Device? AnnaV 15:44, 11 August 2007 (UTC)

Errata

ok, no problem, but one more thing. i looked at some Mentioned in Other Rulings and some card rulings have red links, meaning rulings for that card don't exist. Take a look at the rulings for Magic Cylinder and you'll know what I am talking about. Should we leave it there or delete it? AnnaV 16:22, 11 August 2007 (UTC)

Card Images

  • I know nothing about the original first series of Yu-Gi-Oh!. As for the one Pegasus is holding, that isn't an actual Duel Monsters card; it's an empty soul card he later uses to trap the souls of Seto and Mokuba. -- Huajun Chen 14:50, 12 August 2007 (UTC)

Remove From Play Deck List

You deleted it twice, for what?

  • It was mostly just a list of cards that involve removing cards from play. No real or effective strategy was listed. -- Deltaneos 00:16, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

At least have a card list of such cards. You know like WIND monster list, monster removal list, etc. If such a page exists, can you post a link?

  • A wind monster list exists. -- Huajun Chen 03:07, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

I know that. I used wind as an example. What I'm asking is, is there a Remove From Play list?

  • And exactly why would we need one? -- Huajun Chen 13:40, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

There's a Wind Monster List, a VWXYZ monster list, an equip card list, a field spell list, a monster removal list, a fairy monster list, a burn list. Do you get it?

  • Hell no. All the attribute (ex: Wind) and type (ex: Fairy) monsters have lists in addition to the spell and trap icons. As for burn, it's an archetype and a rather important game in the metagame too. The Monster removal list is up for deletion. -- Huajun Chen 17:01, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

Look, this site has card lists for every attribute, type, theme, and card lists that go toward effects. Understand? There is no way I can make this any clearer than this.

  • Deltaneos deleted your list twice. No means no. Understand? -- Huajun Chen 04:33, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

Help

  • Are you busy today? -- Huajun Chen 03:50, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
    • Well if you're not busy, maybe you could install all of the Anime and Manga Appearances images. I've got a lot to upload today. -- Huajun Chen 13:40, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
      • Plus everything in the "Unused Files" section...maybe 100? 150? -- Huajun Chen 13:56, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
        • I'm not quite sure what you mean by "under the attribute images". -- Huajun Chen 14:16, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

Scapegoat

  • GX...oh snap, we need to distinguish the differences between DM and GX don't we? -- Huajun Chen 14:34, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
    • Actually, for some reason I didn't properly upload the file so your DM picture is still there... -- Huajun Chen 14:45, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
      • Oh. Well. I might do it later. -- Huajun Chen 21:39, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

Identifying Card Images

  • The card that Pegasus uses in the anime/manga to capture souls is named "Soul Prison" ??????.
  • Frankly, I have no idea about those other cards. The text written in their names doesn't look like Japanese kanji, Latin letters, or any other alphabet known to mankind (except the Arabic alphabet, perhaps, but that's quite unlikely to be the case); it appears to be nothing more than scribbles. Since none of them appeared in the original manga, though, I think it's safe to say that they are just a bunch of generic cards that were shown as "samples", but were never meant to be properly identified. Compare them to the images of Chimæra and Rock-Gun, who were actually played in duels and have their names spelled clearly.
    --Van Ludwig 06:18, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

Naming Policy

  • ...for the Yu-Gi-Oh! characters. What? -- Huajun Chen 23:58, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
  • "Yu-Gi-Oh! anime, manga or movie only characters" is a pretty interesting category. However, I'm concerned about the manga characters section. With the exception of Mr. Crown is in DM only AKA the second series while all the other manga characters are in the first series. It's just a bit confusing.

Oh, and the Mimic of Doom are almost *completely* different people in the anime and manga in terms of appearances and personality. So...? -- Huajun Chen 13:33, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

Mokuba's Soul

The card's name is "Soul Prison", of course. The cards that contained the souls of Kaiba and Yugi's grandpa retained the name "Soul Prison" as well.
--Van Ludwig 00:00, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

Merging pages

  • Want to do the GX section too?
  • Oh. And I hope you noticed that you exceeded the max amount of info for a safe page limit. -- Huajun Chen 21:50, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

Galleries

If you can perfect it, it -is- possible to build one on IF Statements, such as what's been done for a few other templates. However, if this was the case, you'd have to include ~300 entries, to account for all sizes we'd ever encounter (Such as for reprint sets, BE1/BE2/EE1/EE2/EE3/EE3, and their TCG equivalents.--TwoTailedFox (My Talk Page) 17:03, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

Notice I'm removing just the links - The concept is sound, but it looks untidy if just -one- part of the Wikia has been converted. One or two of the categories need to be renamed, but I'll get around to that.--TwoTailedFox (My Talk Page) 22:42, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

Amplifier Errata

There is both an English errata (which I already covered) and a Japanese one for Amplifier. The Japanese one says "[This card activation cannot be negated] had been added to the card text." and it's true because you can see the differences on the OCG text in the gallery section. What do we do? -- Huajun Chen 14:23, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

Magician of Black Chaos

The Rulings on it's Page talk about Dark Magician of Chaos, they don't even mention Magician of Black Chaos, Can you please delete the page? or it must be left in the way it is?. Thanks. -- Tyrant Slayer 17:04, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

You think it might be possible that I could apply for being an admin on this site? Big Boss 0 21:28, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

  • Have an answer for my question yet. Big Boss 0 23:04, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

SRL + Misprints

There are indeed SRL-XXX and SRL-EXXX, I actually have physical copies of cards with those set designations. The only ambiguity with MRL, and SRL is the absence of MRL-ENXXX. No real evidence from either side, I'm just wondering if someone can actually locate any card images with those set numbers.

As for the misprints... I'd classify it as Trivia, since they aren’t 'official' prints, merely a product of mechanical issues. Tournament Rules do allow them to be used, but the misprinted name is not used to identify it; the real one is used instead. As for filenames (Since I own that very misprint, and lots more), they should use the original card as the base i.e. GiantTrunadeDB1-EN-C-MISPRINT-FiendSkullDragon.jpg. Long, I know, but allows for flexibility.--TwoTailedFox (My Talk Page) 23:06, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

  • Trust me, they very much -do- exist. If you really want, I'll scan some in for you.--TwoTailedFox (My Talk Page) 00:30, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

I Forgot

I just realized I might have a scan of the certificate of authenticity for the Creator of Light card! I'll be back in a minute! Big Boss 0 23:15, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

Oi? + Template

  • You're still up at this time? Normally you'd hit the hay by now. Anyway, could you look over the Hero template for me? You said something about wanting to merge the E-hero, D-hero, and (other) E-hero templates together like with the sacred cards so I did that for you. Not sure if you still support the idea, though. -- Huajun Chen 00:41, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

Exodia + While you were away

  • Could you explain why Exxod, Master of The Guard is considered in the exodia circle? Is it like Light and Darkness Dragon being a chaos monster for reasons beyond my comprehension? -- Huajun Chen 01:30, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
    • -virtual digital leap on Del- You're back! Wee~ Things were awfully boring around here without you constantly spamming the Recent Changes with your gallery edits and what not. As for Exxod, I suppose we'll take him out of the Exodia template because he really has nothing to do with special win conditions at all. -- Huajun Chen 18:50, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
      • I can't make head or tails of your last reply.
      • Another thing: I’ve been doing some trivia pages on monster counterparts and I found three sets I’m not sure can be considered as counterparts; I need a second opinion. Keep in mind that a “counterpart” means that the artwork for one card resembles the artwork for another in terms of facial expression, clothing, weapon, appendages (ex: horns, tails), and body pieces, but NOT necessarily the color. Dark Elf and Mystical Elf are an example pair:
      • Appreciate your help. But believe you me, I have lots more stuff for you to verify. (Bwhahaha). -- Huajun Chen 19:57, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

Deletion

Scans

Not right now, but thing here are getting busier here, and I may be moving soon. Remove the related SRL card entries from the pages, and remove the gallery links, but leave the galleries themselves as well as the redirects and the actual card articles intact as they are, until I can be 100% certain.--TwoTailedFox (My Talk Page) 22:14, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

  • Spacing changes all the time, it's not really noteworthy.--TwoTailedFox (My Talk Page) 23:54, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

Merging GX pages

  • Sorry I didn't reply eariler; was watching Forest Gump. Anyhoo, yeah I suppose that would be a good way to organize the GX character pages. As for Stein, let's just leave it as Mr. Stein and have a redirect for Professor Stein.
  • Another thing: When you're not busy, could you look over the Japanese group rulings for the Gladial beasts, Crystal beasts, Six Samurai, etc? They're in my sandbox. I don't know what to do with them and I have even less of an idea whether the Japanese rulings for the Six Samurai overlap the English ones or not. -- Huajun Chen 00:38, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
  • Scratch the last thought. Too many cameos from different seasons. What do you say to categorizing by dorms? (Slifer Red, Ra Yellow, etc.) -- Huajun Chen 00:41, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
    • You have a point. Listen -- I want to plan things out before jumping in this time around. Our previous encounters with smushing character pages together was slightly confusing (different ideas for a page name, deciding a character goes better in this category, wait no, this category, double and triple redirects, etc.) and I want to try to avoid that this time. So if we follow your idea about dividing the character pages into season, here's how it'll look:
      • FIRST SEASON - Harrington Rosewood, Admiral, Mr. Huffington, Dimitri, Slade and Jagger Princeton, Pierre the Gambler, Gerard, Torrey, Beauregard and Brier
      • SECOND SEASON - Missy, Mr. Shroud, Alien of Light, Reginald Van Howell III, Bob Banter, Lorenzo, Alice, Princess Rose, Frantz, Linda, The D, Howard X Miller
      • THIRD SEASON - Rick (GX), Shirley, Mr. Stein, Osamu, Three Masked Knights, Trapper, Echo, Shido Garam
    • Now what about these characters? They fit into more than one season.
      • Chazz's Friends
      • Damon
      • Ms. Dorothy
      • Fonda Fontaine
      • Jasmine and Mindy
      • Belowski
      • Wheeler
      • Pharaoh
      • Sartyr -- Huajun Chen 00:58, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
        •  ;_____; Do I have to make the decision myself? -- Huajun Chen 00:58, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
          • Reason 2,401 Wikipedia is completely and utterly wrong. The Alien of Light is a machine. >_>;; Mindy and Jasmine do not appear in all three seasons; just the first two. Satyr only appears very briefly in season one and partly in season two, but doesn't get any screentime (of my knowledge) in season three. Slade and Jagger Princeton only appear in season one for the love of god! Wheeler, Damon and Belowski appears in season two as well, making him more than just a first season character. And Jean Louis Bonaparte appears in season two AND three. -sigh- I hate continuity. So now what? -- Huajun Chen 13:51, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

Spell Speeds & Counters

  • I'm so going to special hell for this, Not to mention Fox will have my ass plaqued on his wall but... would it make sense if we combined the four spell speeds on the same page much like the Turn Phases or is that pushing my abridging powers too far?
  • Also should we do something to organize the counters? Because A-counters and Clock Counters aren't the only one that are important, yet they are the only two mentioned on the glossary/template. -- Huajun Chen 15:07, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
    • Uh...I guess we should just move it to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Terminology page. Thanks, by the way. But if we're going to special hell via Mr. Furry, you're coming with me. XD; -- Huajun Chen 15:17, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

Merging GX pages (continued)

  • In the end, I suppose it's best to follow your idea. So how does Category:Yu-Gi-Oh! GX First Season Characters sound? -- Huajun Chen 18:29, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
    • Did I say category? I meant page. Yes. Page. No, of course it wouldn't annyo me. We had the same train of thought; I just ended up taking a shower and accidentally rewording it.-- Huajun Chen 18:45, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
      • It's either we divide them by seasons or just merge all the minor characters together. I vote for the latter of the two. 'bout you? -- Huajun Chen 18:48, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
        • He's also a Duel Monsters Spirit. Minor characters with two categories are getting their own page for now. -- Huajun Chen 18:56, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
        • Size-wise, it won't be any worse than your page. Speaking of which, what are you going to do with the Video-game only characters? -- Huajun Chen 18:58, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
          • ...has my feminine immaturity finally gotten to you, or are you always this uptight? -- Huajun Chen 19:07, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

North Academy

  • Hey, thanks. I suppose we'll have to find write something for the North Academy page -- though honestly, there isn't that much to write about. Mostly, that it's called "North School" in the Japanese version and that European students transfer there while the Japanese ones go to Duel Academia. Apart from that, I suppose we could mention something about the rigid class structure of the academy, and something about Chazz and Jesse. -- Huajun Chen 21:28, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

  • Have you ever heard of Jay-Z? -- Huajun Chen 00:17, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

A-Z

  • I'm erasing my previous edit, if that's ok with you. As for the A-Z trivia pages; hell yeah, I'm more than happy to delete it seeing as tons of trivia pages aren't included on the list. Perhaps you should check with TwoTailedFox first and maybe some other users, but I'm backing you up on this all the way. BTW, even if the pages you edited are deleted, your edit count doesn't go down or anything.
  • What do you say to an IRC channel? -- Huajun Chen 23:15, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
    • Yellowstone Park! Wyoming! -- Huajun Chen 23:37, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

Cyber Template

  • Look at the Cyber Template. Do we keep the "Other" section or not? -- Huajun Chen 00:10, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
    • Smart decision. We keep Armored Cybern and Cybernetic Hidden Technology, however, because they're awfully specific as their text reads a machine-type monster with "Cyber" in its name. I'm also on the fence with Overload Fusion because there aren't that many Machine-type Dark-Attribute monsters out there and Overload Fusion was created with the Cyberdark series in mind. (Very much the same with Dark Deal and the Dark World template.) The reason why I bring it up is because someone *did* add Dark Deal to the Dark World template. -- Huajun Chen 00:19, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
      • Wait, so that means Cyber Phoenix, Kirin, Oboroyous, etc. are going to be in the cyber template? Oh, now I regret mentioning those two cards. Maybe if they were in the TCG/OCG, but noooo they're anime only. Plus Zane is dead forever (as far as I know) and noone else uses the Cyber series except for Sheppard, and he's going to be dueling after Alexis gets new cards. Which will be in 200 episodes. Or never. -- Huajun Chen 00:32, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
        • DEAD. (You didn't know?) -- Huajun Chen 00:40, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
          • It happened last week, actually. So many fans cried because Zane died with his heart stopping, rather than just losing the duel and turning into sparkles in the case of Aster, Jim, Axel, etc. You're so right about his lack of personality, but I do miss him because 1) I'm a yaoi fan, 2) he's hot in black leather, and 3) I wrote a fanfiction concerning an original character of mine with him. ... I am so going to special hell for this too. -- Huajun Chen 00:47, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
            • Very behind, I see. As of last Wednesday, everybody has died except for Jesse, Syrus, Crowler, Bastion, Taniya, Adrian, and of course, Jaden. Both Jesse and Adrian fall later on. -- Huajun Chen 00:57, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
              • -coughs- Erm, sorry 'bout that. ^_^;; Anyway, you really should go to sleep. I'm leaving at 4:50 tommmorrow to catch my plane and probably won't be in the vicinity of a computer for the next week so I'll catch you in seven days time. (Remember to tell Fox about IRC.) Later! -- Huajun Chen 01:07, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

Question answers

  • PScR is more of an internal reference.
  • IRC is good. The difference between a forum and IRC? Forum = Web Browser, IRC = mIRC or other such chat program.
  • If it can be duplicated better with categories (and linked appropriately) ditch them.
  • Fine.
  • Narch suggested the idea, and I didn't say no. It's for when most of the Wikia is finished, and we need more ways to pass the time :p--TwoTailedFox (My Talk Page) 22:59, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
  • Looks fine to me. Go for it.--TwoTailedFox (My Talk Page) 00:43, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

Effects

  • No idea, really.
  • A Multi-Trigger monster effect is where the user -has- to make a choice on whether to activate an effect. Despair from the Dark is a Trigger Effect, because it automatically activates when it's discarded from the hand; the owner doesn't have a say. Strike Ninja is a Multi-Trigger effect, because the user can decide when to activate the effect, either during his, or his opponent's turn.--TwoTailedFox (My Talk Page) 20:03, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
    • You are correct. Trigger Effects (Such as Apprentice Magician), will activate when sent to the Graveyard; you simply choose not to Special Summon, or to Special Summon. Multi-Trigger effects are ones that can either autonomously be activated when so desired, such as with "Strike Ninja", or in response to another card's activation, like with "A-Team: Trap Disposal Unit".--TwoTailedFox (My Talk Page) 20:16, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

Colorless

Actually, we know the Ojamachines exist, too. They're mentioned in Mecha Ojama King's effect. Problem is, if we created a proper article for them, it'd be just as empty and ugly as Colorless's is now. That's why I propose we redirect Colorless to Brron's article, which contains basically all we know about Colorless, anyway. But take heart. Given that he's: a.) a season 3 monster, and b.) seems to be a nasty piece of work, he sounds like the kind of guy we could get in Phantom Darkness, no? Rodtheanimegod4ever 01:31, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

Yo.

  • The June is back. -- Huajun Chen 06:41, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
    • I've got a ton of things to ask you.
  1. [Template:Dark World Monster Rulings What is this?]
  2. Does Mr. Hopkins appear in the manga? I thought he was an anime-only character, but correct me if I'm wrong.
  3. We need more templates. I've got a lot in mind, but I'm sure you're support these two: Spirit monsters and Umi. My other ideas include a Mirror template (for Sarina's cards), a Frog template, a Moth template, a Poker Template, a Sphinx template, a vampire template, a virus template, and possibly a Wicked Doctrine, Mystic, or Hunting template. I'm not crazy about the last three, though.
  4. ...what in the world is with the Machine King template? Why is it there?
  5. Same thing with the Charmer template. What are you thoughts about making the charmer template into an Elemental template? (The four elements, I mean.)
  6. Instant Fusion really needs to be put in the Anime and Manga Appearances section. I know, I know, they have different Japanese names, but the name Muko is different in terms of both Japanese and English names from Null and Void and so is Dogra's Sword with Cestus of Dagla, so surely Instant Fusion should qualify.
  7. Should Dark Deal be in the Dark World template?
  8. I thought you cleared the Anime and Manga Appearances pages with Fox. How come we can't still delete it? -- Huajun Chen 15:46, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
  1. Let me try again. WHAT IS THIS?
  2. ...that sucks as justification. People are going to be looking all over the place for Mr. Hopkins, only to find him under the Anime AND Manga Appearances section, despite the fact .000481% of the population know he makes a split second cameo in the manga.
  3. Yes. That means we'll need Union and Gemini templates too. We have a toon template, so why shouldn't we have other effect sub-type templates?
  4. I'm deleting the Anime and Manga Appearances pages once I'm done cleaning up some other links. Furry-san shouldn't have a problem with that. -- Huajun Chen 16:29, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
  1. I can't think of another way to cateogrize the minor characters, so I guess we'll stick with your way.
  2. Also, since we have a category for Fusion, Effect, and Normal monsters, wouldn't it make sense to have a category for Spell and Trap Cards? -- Huajun Chen 17:12, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
  3. Plus: Why do we have so many unused templates? -- Huajun Chen 17:12, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
  1. ...is there any way to categorize one without going through every single S/T page in existence?
  2. I'll start creating the Spirit and Umi template. We can spread out from there. -- Huajun Chen 17:29, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
