TCG Rulings
- Sending “Blackwing – Kalut the Moon Shadow” to the graveyard is a cost to activate its effect.[1]
- The effect of “Blackwing – Kalut the Moon Shadow” does not target.[1]
- You can send “Blackwing – Kalut the Moon Shadow” to the Graveyard during either player’s turn, as it is a Quick Effect.[1]
OCG Rulings
- During the Damage Step in which a "Blackwing" monster you control battles, you can activate this effect from the start of the Damage Step until before damage calculation.[3]
- You can activate the effect of a card like "Gem-Merchant", "Honest", or "Blackwing - Kalut the Moon Shadow" during the Damage Step only while the monster is face-up.
- Example: If a face-down "Gem-Knight Garnet" is attacked, then you can activate the effect of "Gem-Merchant" after the face-down "Gem-Knight Garnet" is flipped face-up.[4]
