  • This is so far the only card that causes a monster to be treated as having no name, although only in the anime.
  • A genome is the DNA or RNA information encoded in every organism, referencing this card's ability to "inherit" another monster's name.
  • This card's number may be a reference to the shape of DNA. The number 8 looks similar to the double helix shape DNA often takes.
  • This card's appearance is reminiscent of Tron, who wears a mask with a red gem covering his left eye.
    • In this instance, the red number "8" is covering the monster's left eye.
  • This card bears resemblance to "The Fabled Kudabbi", in the sense that they are both four-legged creatures whose faces are obscured by a mask.
    • Also, Number 8 is a Rank 4 Xyz monster, and Kudabbi is a Level 4 Synchro Monster.
  • This card's sealed form resembles an ancient mask with straw hair, when it unseals blue energy spreads and forms the legs and hairs.
  • When this card absorbs an overlay unit to activate its effect, it absorbs it through its mask.
    • When it uses its ability it wraps its hair around the selected monster and absorbs its name, appearance, and the color of the monster. The card absorbs red material and then glows red as it changes its appearance to resemble a masked version of the targeted monster.
  • This card's ability to steal everything about the monster and leave them with nothing is similar to its owner's ability to steal memories from people.
  • This card's number and the ATK is multiple by 300. (8 x 300 = 2400).
  • This is the first "Psychic" "Number" monster, and the first standard "Number" without generic materials.
  • It seems that this card is a reference to the forest spirit, a kirin-like creature, from the awarded anime movie Princess Mononoke.
