TCG Rulings
- The effect of “Earthbound Immortal Ccapac Apu” that inflicts damage to the opponent activates at the end of the Damage Step, after the destroyed monster has been sent to the Graveyard. So the damage is based off the ATK in the Graveyard (the monster’s original ATK).[1]
OCG Rulings
- When "Earthbound Immortal Ccapac Apu" destroys a monster by battle while the effect of "Grave Protector" is being applied, "Earthbound Immortal Ccapac Apu" will still inflict damage to your opponent equal to the monster's ATK, even though the monster was shuffled into the Deck.[2]
- When "Earthbound Immortal Ccapac Apu" destroys a monster by battle, the damage inflicted is equal to the monster's Original ATK while it is in the Graveyard. If the monster is destroyed by battle and removed from play, the damage inflicted is equal to the monster's Original ATK while it is removed from play.[3]
"Earthbound Immortal" Monster Rulings
OCG Rulings
- Even if this card is the only card on your side of the field, your opponent cannot attack you directly.[4][5][6][7][8][9]
- While you control "Earthbound Immortal Ccapac Apu"/"Earthbound Immortal Aslla piscu"/etc, you can activate the effect of "Phantom of Chaos"/"Neo-Spacian Dark Panther"/etc and target a "Earthbound Immortal Ccapac Apu". After the effect of "Phantom of Chaos"/etc resolves, it is destroyed.[10]
- When a face-down "Earthbound Immortal Aslla piscu" is attacked and destroyed by battle, then it is not destroyed and sent to the Graveyard by its own effect after Damage Calculation. Instead, it is sent to the Graveyard at the end of the Damage Step.[11]
- While you control "Earthbound Immortal Ccapac Apu"/"Earthbound Immortal Aslla piscu"/etc and a Field Spell Card, if you activate a new Field Spell Card, then the old Field Spell Card must be destroyed. "Earthbound Immortal Ccapac Apu"/etc is also destroyed at the same time that the old Field Spell Card is destroyed.[12]
- While you control "Earthbound Immortal Ccapac Apu"/"Earthbound Immortal Aslla piscu"/etc and a Field Spell Card, if your opponent activates a new Field Spell Card, then there is always an active Field Spell Card, so "Earthbound Immortal Ccapac Apu"/etc is not destroyed.[12]
- The effect of "Earthbound Immortal Ccapac Apu"/"Earthbound Immortal Aslla piscu"/etc prevents your opponent's monsters from selecting it as an attack target. Thus, when the only monster you control is "Earthbound Immortal Ccapac Apu"/etc, your opponent can neither attack your monster nor attack directly. However, your opponent can still attack you directly with monsters like "Jinzo #7" which can attack directly.[13]
- If the effect of "Earthbound Immortal Chacu Challhua" is negated by "Skill Drain", then you still cannot Normal Summon a second "Earthbound Immortal Chacu Challhua". This is because the effect "There can only be 1 face-up "Earthbound Immortal" monster on the field" of the second "Earthbound Immortal Chacu Challhua" is still applied while the second "Earthbound Immortal Chacu Challhua" is in the hand.[14]
- If "Earthbound Immortal Ccapac Apu" is face-up on the field, then you cannot Normal Summon another "Earthbound Immortal" monster from your hand. However, you can Set another "Earthbound Immortal" monster from your hand in face-down Defense Position. If you do, then you cannot Flip Summon that "Earthbound Immortal" monster.[15]
- If "Earthbound Immortal Ccapac Apu" is face-up on the field, then you cannot choose to Special Summon an "Earthbound Immortal" monster.[15]
- If "Earthbound Immortal Ccapac Apu" is face-up on the field and another "Earthbound Immortal" monster is face-down, then if the face-down monster is flipped face-up by an effect like "Swords of Revealing Light", then the "Earthbound Immortal" monster is destroyed after it is flipped face-up. Or, if multiple "Earthbound Immortal" monsters all simultaneously become face-up on the field, then the player selects one of the "Earthbound Immortal" monsters, and all the others are destroyed.[15]
- "Staunch Defender" can be activated by targeting "Earthbound Immortal Cusillu". In that case, all monsters your opponent controls must attack "Earthbound Immortal Cusillu" during this Battle Phase.[16]
TCG Rulings
Konami Rulings
These TCG rulings were issued by Konami before the introduction of Problem-Solving Card Text. Since the introduction of the new text structure, individual card rulings for the TCG are no longer issued or actively maintained.[19] They have never been formally overturned as a whole and can still be correct, as long as they follow the official gameplay rules and do not contradict card text. |
- If you control an Earthbound Immortal and no other monsters, your opponent cannot attack you, because they cannot select the Earthbound Immortal as an attack target. (Exception: they can attack with monsters that can attack directly, such as “Submarineroid.”)[17][18]
- If the only Earthbound Immortal on the field is an Equip Spell Card, it is not treated as a monster so you can Summon an Earthbound Immortal.[17][18]
If you replace your opponent’s Field Spell Card by activating one of your own[Out of Date 1], there is a face-up Field Spell Card continuously on the field, so any Earthbound Immortal on the field would not be destroyed. If you activate a new Field Spell Card, replacing your own Field Spell Card, there is a gap when no Field Spell Card is on the field, so any Earthbound Immortal would be destroyed.[17][18]
- If you Special Summon an Earthbound Immortal by chaining “Call of the Haunted” or “Revival of the Immortals” to the activation of a Field Spell Card, even though the Field Spell Card has not resolved when the Earthbound Immortal is Special Summoned as Chain Link 2, the Earthbound Immortal will remain on the field, undestroyed.[17][18]
Mentions in Other Rulings
- Battle Fader: You can activate the effect of "Battle Fader" when your opponent attacks directly with a monster like "Earthbound Immortal Ccapac Apu" even if you control monsters.
- Pixie Ring: If all monsters you control have the same ATK while “Pixie Ring” is active, your opponent cannot declare an attack (except with monsters that can attack directly such as Earthbound Immortals, “Jinzo #7” etc.)
