- This is one of few Xyz Monsters that doesn't use its Xyz Materials.
- This is the fourth single digit "Number" in the series, the others being "Number 7: Lucky Straight", "Number 6: OOPArts Atlanthal", and "Number 9: Canopy Star - Dyson Sphere", in that order.
- This is the first Number monster to have the Number 8 included as any one of it's digits since "Number 83: Galaxy Queen" which debuted in Episode 007. This card debuted in Episode 054, a gap of 47 episodes.
- Coincidentally, both of these numbers were the only ones in the anime not rendered by CG.
- This card's number, 8, may come from its Xyz Materials, 2 Level 4 monsters, in which 2 multiplied by 4 equals 8.
- This card number could be a reference to the DNA itself as this molecule is formed by pairs (hence the 2) of 4 types of nucleotides. 2x4=8
- This card's number may as well refer to it being the eighth "Number" revealed in the World Duel Carnival, the first seven being "Number 7: Lucky Straight", "Number 15: Gimmick Puppet Giant Killer", "Number 32: Shark Drake", "Number 25: Force Focus", "Number 33: OOPArts Super Weapon - Machu Mach", "Number 40: Gimmick Puppet Heaven's String", and "Number 6: OOPArts Atlanthal".
- This is so far the only card that causes a monster to be treated as having no name, although only in the anime.
- A genome is the DNA or RNA information encoded in every organism, referencing this card's ability to "inherit" another monster's name.
- This card's number may be a reference to the shape of DNA. The number 8 looks similar to the double helix shape DNA often takes.
- This card's appearance is reminiscent of Tron, who wears a mask with a red gem covering his left eye.
- In this instance, the red number "8" is covering the monster's left eye.
- This card bears resemblance to "The Fabled Kudabbi", in the sense that they are both four-legged creatures whose faces are obscured by a mask.
- Also, Number 8 is a Rank 4 Xyz monster, and Kudabbi is a Level 4 Synchro Monster.
- This card's sealed form resembles an ancient mask with straw hair, when it unseals blue energy spreads and forms the legs and hairs.
- When this card absorbs an overlay unit to activate its effect, it absorbs it through its mask.
- When it uses its ability it wraps its hair around the selected monster and absorbs its name, appearance, and the color of the monster. The card absorbs red material and then glows red as it changes its appearance to resemble a masked version of the targeted monster.
- This is the first "Number" that requires a specific archetype ("Heraldic Beast") to be Xyz Summoned; albeit in OCG only.
- This card's ability to steal everything about the monster and leave them with nothing is similar to its owner's ability to steal memories from people.
- This card's number and the ATK is multiple by 300. (8 x 300 = 2400).
- This is the first "Psychic" "Number" monster, and the first standard "Number" without generic materials.
- This is the second "Psychic" type Xyz Monster to appear, the first being "OOPArts Crystal Alien", albeit it being "Psychic" in OCG only.
- It seems that this card is a reference to the forest spirit, a kirin-like creature, from the awarded anime movie Princess Mononoke.
