Card Trivia:Black Rose Dragon
- This is the cover card of Crossroads of Chaos, and is also one of the cover cards of Duelist Saga, the Collectible Tins 2008 Wave 2, Legendary Duelists: Season 2, 25th Anniversary Tin: Dueling Heroes, and Synergy Pack 01: Syncro Acceleration.
- This is the only card that was reprinted two times with "DUEL TERMINAL" written on it without actually being in one of the Duel Terminal sets.
- This monster appears in the artworks of "Blooming of the Darkest Rose", "Frozen Rose", and "Synchro Overtop".
- This monster is the signature card of Akiza Izinski in the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's anime
- This card is also the anime counterpart to "Black Rose Moonlight Dragon", the signature card of Akiza in the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's manga.
- This is first and one of the two signature cards of a female lead to be a Dragon monster, the other being Yuamu Ohdo's "Blue Tooth Burst Dragon".
- This monster's name appears to contradict its appearance, given that the roses which adorn its body are red rather than black. However, when examining the name more closely, one notices that this monster's skin is actually black in color, and the name can be taken as a more literal description of this monster's nature.
- This is the only monster to have been a featured card in an anime more than any other card, being featured four times.
- This was the first Signer Dragon to be Limited on September 1, 2009. It went back to Unlimited one year later.
- This is the first Signer Dragon whose effect relates to a specific Type and the first to have a specific support card, "Thorn of Malice".
- This is the first Signer Dragon to be Level 7 instead of Level 8, as opposed to "Stardust Dragon", "Life Stream Dragon", "Red Dragon Archfiend" and "Black-Winged Dragon", followed later by "Ancient Fairy Dragon".
- All of the male Signers used Level 8 Signer Dragons while both female Signers used Level 7 Signer Dragons.
- This card has many counterparts:
- 5 younger counterpart: "Blue Rose Dragon", "Red Rose Dragon", "White Rose Dragon", "Crossrose Dragon" and "Roxrose Dragon.
- A Duel Dragon manga counterpart: "Black Rose Moonlight Dragon".
- An upgraded counterpart: "Ruddy Rose Dragon".
- In the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's anime, this card, "Red Dragon Archfiend", and "Life Stream Dragon" were the only Signer Dragons that were never absorbed by any of the "Meklord" monsters at least once.
- This card is notably the only Signer Dragon to have never been used against any of the "Meklord" monsters at least once. This is because Akiza never battled any of the Three Pure Nobles or Aporia himself.
- This is one of four Signer Dragons that technically never got an upgrade throughout the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's anime; the other three being "Ancient Fairy Dragon", "Black-Winged Dragon", and "Life Stream Dragon".
- This is, however, the first of this Signer Dragons to receive an upgrade, outside of the anime.
- Like all the other Signer Dragons, this monster represents this card's owner and their initial ambitions and desires; in this monster's case, its design is a reference to Akiza being beautiful in appearance, but dangerous in nature.
- This card's first effect of destroying all cards on the field when Synchro Summoned represents Akiza's psychic abilities hurting the people around her; also, this card's second effect of forcing an opponent's Defense Position monster to Attack Position and reducing its ATK to 0 represents how she could critically injure anyone she Dueled as the "Black Rose".
