- This card overcomes Buster Blader's main weakness, that it relies on the opponent using a specific kind of monster to power up. This card powers up if you also use Dragons, making it extremely handy.
- A card that combos extremely well with this is Mirage Dragon. It doesn't completely lock down traps, but it prevents your opponent from using traps during the Battle Phase, which tend to be the most troublesome traps, and boosts this card's ATK by 500 at the same time.
- If you're lucky to have two in your deck, this combo can help you a lot. All you need is Fusion Recovery and Emblem of Dragon Destroyer. Play Polymerization and then Fusion Recovery in which you retrieve Dark Magician and Polymerization from the Graveyard. Then play Emblem of Dragon Destroyer to regain Buster Blader and Re-Fuse.
- Try using fusion substitute monsters such as The Dark - Hex-Sealed Fusion to help get this card out, that way you only have to use one of the fusion material monsters in your deck which is especially helpful here since Dark Magician and Buster Blader don't support each other very well.
