  • This monster appears to be a corrupted form of "Gem-Knight Crystal", with parts of "Gem-Knight Zirconia" (right arm and left leg) and "Gem-Knight Master Diamond" (left arm and right leg, plus part of the helmet) grafted onto its body.
    • Its ATK, DEF, and type are the same as "Gem-Knight Crystal".
    • This monster's ATK, DEF, Attribute and Rank suggest that he is – or once was – part of the "lswarm", as most of those monsters are Level or Rank 4 DARK counterparts to other Duel Terminal monsters, possessing ATK and DEF values that end in 50.
    • This monster may be intended to represent the state of "Crystal" after the final battle against "Gishki Zielgigas" and "Evilswarm Ouroboros" at the conclusion of the duel terminal storyline. With "Sophia, Goddess of Rebirth" defeated, the united "Gem-Knights'" transformation into "Gem-Knight Master Diamond" is beginning to fall apart. In the midst of this, "Crystal" appears to have been corrupted by the remnants of the "Lswarm" virus, and has either taken control of "Diamond's" crumbling body or reassembled his damaged body using the remains of his fallen comrades.
  • This monster may derive its name from the Cairn Gorm (Gaelic: An Càrn Gorm, meaning Blue or Green Hill), a mountain in the Scottish Highlands overlooking Strathspey and the town of Aviemore.
  • The yellow mist emerging from Caingorgorm's head appears to be a larval form of "Shaddoll Roots," which is further supported by his head appearing in its artwork.
    • As they have the same head, it would appear this monster eventually becomes "El Shaddoll Grystal."
