Gem is an archetype that includes the "Gem-Knights" as well as a few original cards.

Play style

Like the original "Elemental HERO" monsters, Gem-Knights rely heavily on fusion, with the fusion materials typically being one specific Gem-Knight, and one generic Gem-Knight. They even have their own fusion card: Gem-Knight Fusion, which can be recycled by banishing one Gem-Knight in the player's Graveyard. This allows for somewhat rapid summoning, as if a player is able to accumulate the required materials in his/her hand, he or she can execute a series of fusions in that turn. The Normal Monster Gem-Knights have reasonably high attack, and so can be normal summoned or set without too much worry. However, that said, they do have a substantial problem with rapid summoning, at least at the present time in the TCG. Due to this and the archetype's heavy reliance on fusion and somewhat slower gameplay, Gem-Knights are an excellent starting deck for beginning players, who are just learning to master the rules and compiling their own strategies.

Seeing as how some of the fusions for this archetype are Level 6 or less, they are perfect candidates for "Fusion Weapon" to make them extremely powerful beatsticks. "Gaia Power" may also help compensate for the Gem-Knight's relatively low original ATK.
