  • Dude... what? I'm not an admin here. Or anywhere, I think. I'm just a casual editor person. --Bluedog (Talk) 01:12, 22 February 2009 (UTC)

What's the difference between featured user and admin?

  • Admins can delete pages, block users, and protect pages. A featured user is just someone who edits frequently, I think. --Bluedog (Talk) 01:29, 22 February 2009 (UTC)

Well, you seem like a popular guy. How do we (yes, WE) become admins? Then again, I'm not a fan of this franchise, but I do like it enough to come to this wikipedia, do I?

  • I'm not sure, but from my time here, I've learned not to ask. Besides, I'm not interested in being an admin. --Bluedog (Talk) 02:11, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
  • I think you'd excel at it. Hrm, how's your gaming?
  • You mean my skills as a duelist? --Bluedog (Talk) 02:25, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
  • Hmm...pretty much. Also talking about in general. You saw my challenge on your talk page.
  • Well in general, I'm ok at most games, and as a duelist, I'm mediocre. XD --Bluedog (Talk) 02:42, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
  • Um, so are you better at most games than Duel Monsters, or is it the other way around? Is it strategy that you lack or is it the cards you have? I don't mind proxies. I'd like it much better if official tournaments allowed proxies. But wasn't there a notice that North American tournaments are canceled until further notice?
  • I'm better at dueling than most other games, I can play well, it's just that I don't have a lot of the cards I need. And yeah, OP in North America has been canceled. --Bluedog (Talk) 03:05, 22 February 2009 (UTC)

Canceled this year or forever until further notice? Oh, and I accept proxies. Uh...what's an OP?

  • I don't know. I guess until further notice. And OP = Organized play, like tournaments and hobby leagues. One last thing: I don't use proxies. --Bluedog (Talk) 03:46, 22 February 2009 (UTC)

It's casual play. Noone cares about the proxies. Think of it as buying off all the cards but not really spending money for it. You could play Traditional while I use an Advanced Deck. For all I care, you could design your own cards provided they aren't broken.

So it does! Thanks!

If you want to be a judge, sure, go ahead. But first we gotta figure out the other stuff about the competition. --Bluedog (Talk) 19:16, 7 March 2009 (UTC)

Philiosophical-Psychological Informist Togekiss 22:50, 7 March 2009 (UTC) What do you mean...?

  • Oh I thought you were talking about something, else, but never mind. --Bluedog (Talk) 02:56, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

Hrm??? Uh, what competition?

How can I help? Hmm, I think I can either be a participant or a judge.

  • Well if you choose to be a participant, you can't be a judge and vice-versa. --Bluedog (Talk) 05:38, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

Well, no duh. I just want one or the other. Did you see the new PowerRanger show? I don't live in Japan, so...the only way I can see 5D's is on CW12. But I can easily see it on the (dreadful) youtube. (dont really like that site-use only in emergency). So I watched the premier of RPM. I missed KamenRider whilst doing so...Can't get a link on that. But it's only RPM's premier. ABC will probably only do one new episode now.

RevolutionsPerMinute rocks...

  • No, no you got it wrong. The competition I'm talking about is where participants submit decklists and judges rate them. The decklists they post are based on a certain theme or strategy set at the beginning of the competition. The winner doesn't get anything really, just pride, I guess. --Bluedog (Talk) 03:54, 9 March 2009 (UTC)

Philiosophical-Psychological Informist Togekiss 04:09, 9 March 2009 (UTC)Oh, so there's no actual dueling...if so, I'd like to judge based off originality instead of how good the deck is (um, cross that-I look at how good it is, but I'll be researching how much it was copied; there's a reason my parents included "psychological" and "informist" in my name when I was born)

Real Life Duels

Any chance you could add some of the other real life duels like Joey v Seto at the qualifier, or Yugi v Yusei? --Rocket.knight.777 (talkcontribs) 22:31, May 25, 2013 (UTC)

Anime appearances

I am okay with you putting in scripted Duels, but I request that you leave the anime appearances parts of the card appearance pages alone. I worked really hard on incorporating them in. I am currently working on GX card appearance pages, so that they have my modifications in and I will modify the 5D's pages after I am done with those.Cardsknower (talkcontribs) 20:49, November 19, 2013 (UTC)

Reply

That was back then. I should only apply that to episode 54 appearance in GX as that would explain how "Ben Kei" could attack four time in that episode. I will try to modify Premature Burial card appearance page to remove the costs. I will only mention the cost of discard or sending a card from hand or getting rid of a card on field or Graveyard if it's clear from what was shown in the Duel. I hope you agree with this. I also mention Graveyard when a monster was summoned from the Graveyard as well as Banished Zone when a monster was summoned from there, so I can prevent confusion to myself. If I don't mention it, then it could have been from the hand, deck, or Extra Deck. I also mentioned revive for monsters that are summoned from the Graveyard initially. I should probably apply that to "Monster Reborn" Card appearances only.Cardsknower (talkcontribs) 17:20, November 20, 2013 (UTC)

Another thing

I use Attack Position and Defense Position not mode because this is how the real game mentions it that way. The anime calls it mode for unknown reasons. Cards like "Graceful Charity" and "Pot of Greed", I still want to modify as I have been the last few days, but cards that require Life Points payment will not unless the point payment is to keep the card on the field like "Imperial Order" and "Fairy Box".Cardsknower (talkcontribs) 20:17, November 20, 2013 (UTC)

Position and Mode

I normally would put the word as mode too, but most of the users prefer using the word position as it not only matches up to the real game, but it sounds more professional, so I think it's best we just use the word Position instead of mode.Cardsknower (talkcontribs) 00:04, November 21, 2013 (UTC)

Position vs mode

You told me that you were going to ask an administrator about this problem, but you have not done so yet and have continued to do as you do without talking to an administrator about it. Also I usually hate to modify people's messes, but I will make an exception for you. Most of the other users prefer the sentence "This card remained on the field until the Duel was over" when referring to cards that stayed on the field until the Duel ended. Please talk to an Administrator because Position is preferred than Mode (the episode pages also contain this too) (try Cheesedude, he is the most frequent of the Administrators).Cardsknower (talkcontribs) 06:21, November 25, 2013 (UTC)

Mode or Battle Position

SALUTATIONS, PHILOSOPHICAL, PSYCHOLOGICAL INFORMIST TOGEKISS!!

First, we haven't been introduced, as we've never spoke before! I'm ArcadiasScholarly, albeit you can also call me Ryan (mah real first name) if you wish. Thanks for accounting for the Appearances of the cards in the Scripted Duels--I don't think any of us would of thought of making such mentions of those said Duels, I certainly didn't when I used to do Card Appearance pages! =j

SO, I understand that you and Cardsknower are having a little tiff about the debate of either saying "Battle Position" and/or "Mode" when referring to monsters in the Anime. I know that you tried getting a hold on UltimateKuriboh about this issue because you seem to be a bit unsure about what to say and that you're making edits on Appearance pages to reflect your bias. While I'm not and admin here, lemme (try to) dispel any remaining skepticism you have here--I am absolutely sure that "Battle Position" is the de facto term to use here--not only has every Anime reference I've seen done such this way (except perhaps say, the one and done "Unregistered"s that satiated our Wikias way back when) but something like this was not even a issue for say, a user like me because as a long-time fan of this franchise, I'm well aware that the Anime, namely the original King of Games saga, has a significant gap of terms and alterations that are difference from the actual card game (it just so happens that the usage of the word "Mode" in the Anime that is still being used has stuck, perhaps because the term is much less wordy than using "Position" in the show all the time!?). I mean, another way to put it is when the words "release" and "Advance Summon" started being used when 5D's hit the scene. However, even though those terms were, and are still being used in the Japanese ZEXAL anime (and even in the OCG,) we still use the phrases "Tribute" and "Tribute Summon" when it comes down to that I guess because as this is a (mostly) English Wikia, we stick to the TCG as much as possible and hence, use such terms to reflect that.

I'd say that as for the bottom line, if you still wanna debate with an admin about this, you can still do such but I say, trust yourself (and me) and use the word "Position" because I'm so certain that it is the preferred term here! =j ARCADIASSCHOLARLY 05:02, November 27, 2013 (UTC)

You are most welcome! I'm surprised that UltimateKuriboh doesn't seem to be sure what is preferred as far as this goes. Again, while I'm certain that "Position" should be used instead of mode, I also at the same time completely feel ya about if YGO Wikia policy preferences "Position" over "Mode". Earlier this year as well as when I got started here last year, I was uploading cards to card galleries en masse; most of them were .jpgs. UltimateKuriboh and Golden Key reeled me in however, to remind me that YGO Wikia's image policy is that all YGO imagery should be uploaded as .pngs, as they are of a better image quality. However, until I cleared myself of any misunderstandings for them, I indiscriminately uploaded such images regardless of image format, depending on what format the galleries were set to at that time. Now knowing what I know, I convert .jpgs on mah PC to .pngs and re-name any .jpg galleries to .png before uploading anything.
Speaking of the admins I mentioned, have you messaged other ones, like Cheesedude and Golden Key? They've also been 'round the Wikia for a long time, I moreover am not knowledgeable if Mode/Position is part of YGO's Wikia policy. Given this, methinks I'd say to message them n' see if they know if such a thing exists in policy or if they could check it really quick! =j
P.S You know what!? I'm DONE with mah username NOT auto hyperlinking to mah page. I copy/pasted the template admins used to fix this and NOW you should be able to go there! =j ARCADIASSCHOLARLY (talkcontribs) 18:44, November 27, 2013 (UTC)
Yeah, 'fraid so. And it took me not even 2 minutes to fix it for something that beforehand, left my signature the odd one out for over a YEAR!! I guess the two Wikia users that fixed this for me didn't explicitly gimme da memo but back when, I was too all over the place here (thus, AIN'T NOBODY GOT TIME FO DAT!! XD). But now that I'm a bit more lax here, this long-term minor chink in the armor has now been removed! =j ARCADIASSCHOLARLY (talkcontribs) 19:09, November 27, 2013 (UTC)
I thought that it was obvious, but now my signature hyperlinks to my Main page, my Talk page and my Contributions page like (most if not all of) the other user's signatures do. If you still can't see this though, look @ my signature on my first message to you on this "Mode or Battle Position" post and you'll notice that it JUST put my stylized username in there a la plaintext. Now my signature is more like a lot of the other ones, thanks to to aforementioned hyperlinks (yours is "standardized" like this too!) so that you and every other user I message can now see that my signature links to the said pages (like it SHOULD of way back then.) ARCADIASSCHOLARLY (talkcontribs) 19:52, November 27, 2013 (UTC)
(Mostly) disregard the above post, as I just saw what you thought I did. Yep, BINGO!!--in that style in my "Preferences" so that it shows up the way it does from here on out when I sign posts! =j ARCADIASSCHOLARLY (talkcontribs) 19:55, November 27, 2013 (UTC)

Instead of just c/p'ing Wikipedia article links, just do this: *needed text*. (just look at the code of this message to get it) ChaosGallade (talkcontribs) 15:54, December 20, 2013 (UTC)

Recent Edits

Nice Edits, but don't include the episode's name in when you input the episode. It should be written like Yu-Gi-Oh! ?? - Episode ???. Also don't remove certain things about card names. Certain cards are called different names as that was what they were called in the anime and were not exactly the same. The reason why I often use | to differentiate a card name in the anime to its official name is to avoid confusion as not all cards in the second series anime were the same as cards with the same artwork as them.Cardsknower (talkcontribs) 05:33, December 28, 2013 (UTC)

Reply

I wasn't really clear probably. An episode's name shouldn't be written like this: Yu-Gi-Oh! GX - Episode 163 - Challenge from Psycho Shocker before the |. It should be written like this: Yu-Gi-Oh! GX - Episode 163 before the |. I noticed this when you edited the "Card Appearances:Jinzo" page and I had to modify that. Also while the anime called the card "Spell Absorption" "Absorb Spell" during its first few appearances, I had to input | in between the two names to prevent confusion since they were not exactly the same card despite having the same artwork and sharing the same page. Hope that clears things up.Cardsknower (talkcontribs) 16:42, December 28, 2013 (UTC)

RE:2014 "scripted duel"

That's it. --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 21:57, April 28, 2014 (UTC)

I don't see any harm in making a page for it. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 22:04, April 28, 2014 (UTC)

RE:catch-up

Going gewd. --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 17:16, August 24, 2014 (UTC)

Wah, just noticed you left a message on my user page. Next time, leave it on my talk page. --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 05:48, October 7, 2014 (UTC)
Okayyyyyy-sionally. I do it mostly when I'm bored and want to see what meta techs DN is using. Or I check up on card effects or improve artwork quality. --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 17:15, October 7, 2014 (UTC)

Ra Sphere Mode

Are you sure that Ra always appeared in Sphere Mode when first Summoned? I believe that on every other occasion, when Ra was being Tribute Summoned, the chant was recited and Ra appeared on the field in its normal form. --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 22:46, July 15, 2015 (UTC)

Just letting you know that User:Sanokal K-T also chimed in on my Talk Page about this. --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 00:00, July 16, 2015 (UTC)

Area of Interest

You might like this. I'll post here later if I come across a translated name, and possibly the transcript for the event (which occurred at Jump Festa 2016 on Dec 19, 2015). There's apparently a point where Yugo attempts to use the effect of "Speedroid Taketomborg" to Special Summon a monster from the Graveyard, but Jack corrects him, so maybe think that over as well (including it in the summary or not). --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 07:55, January 7, 2016 (UTC)

RE: Hi

Hi there yourself. Right now, still editing as always, but currently focusing on Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links gameplay info. We have a Discord group (text) chat, if you're interested. The admins commonly use it for themselves, but it's also useful for others to point out certain issues on the YGO Wiki. Here's an invite link. --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 17:52, November 26, 2016 (UTC)

"in light of Yugi's mantra against sacrificing monsters to achieve victory". When did Yugi express that sentiment, until his Duel with Rafael? If he didn't say that until the Duel, then that trivia is pointless. I further doubt he specifically put "Catapult Turtle" in his Deck during his Duel with Rafael (due to a change in attitude), or at some point during the Doma arc.
Furthermore, I've noticed plenty of instances where protagonists have destroyed their own monsters seemingly "recklessly", such as through the effect of "Mirror Gate". --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 03:07, December 15, 2016 (UTC)

RE: DN

Wait for an alternative that is not called' YGO Network. There will be a successor, I'd assume sometime in 2017. --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 17:25, December 30, 2016 (UTC)

RE: Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Generation

Yup. Bit disappointed with how underwhelming it is though, though idk what I was expecting. --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 05:38, January 30, 2017 (UTC)

One of the Pro simulators, yes, for now. I've only been playing Duel Links though. --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 22:19, February 1, 2017 (UTC)

RE:hey there

I am the wrong person to be asking about identifying English dub music, lol. Still playing Duel Links. --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 03:27, September 6, 2017 (UTC)

Well, you can livechat with me on Discord at any time, by joining the YGO wiki chat group. Just say "hi" and I'll PM you. I have learned not to use duelingbook at all, as someone has shown me there is very poor security on the site. The poor-quality crowd there doesn't help either. --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 20:02, September 21, 2017 (UTC)
