- The effect that makes you lose 5000 Life Points is a Trigger Effect that activates in the Graveyard. (This effect does not target. Previously Official Rulings
These TCG rulings were issued by Upper Deck Entertainment and have since been declared unofficial by Konami.[2] They were previously considered official and can still be correct, as long as they follow the official gameplay rules, or unless Konami has issued a ruling that says otherwise. - The owner of "The Immortal of Thunder" loses 5000 Life Points.
- If "The Immortal of Thunder" is destroyed while face-down, its owner does not lose 5000 Life Points.
- If your opponent takes control of your face-down "The Immortal of Thunder" and Flip Summons it, they gain 3000 Life Points. When it is sent to the Graveyard, you lose 5000 Life Points.
Mentions in Other Rulings
- Banisher of the Light: Effects that trigger when cards are sent to the Graveyard, such as... "The Immortal of Thunder"... will not activate.
- Barrel Behind the Door: "Barrel Behind the Door" can only be activated against damage... It cannot be activated against effects that cause you to lose Life Points like "The Immortal of Thunder"...
- Blade Knight: If "Blade Knight" destroys "The Immortal of Thunder", its effect is negated. If your opponent had already gained the 3000 Life Points, then your opponent does not lose the 5000 Life Points. If "Blade Knight" attacked "The Immortal of Thunder" while it was face-down, your opponent neither gains nor loses Life Points from "The Immortal of Thunder"’s effect.
- Prime Material Dragon: If "The Immortal of Thunder" is sent to the Graveyard, its owner will lose 5000 Life Points because this is not damage. "Prime Material Dragon" cannot change it into a Life Point gain.
