Card Tips:Malefic Truth Dragon
- This card can be searched by "Malefic Paradox Gear", "Malefic Selector", "Malefic Tune", "Malefic World", "Starliege Seyfert", "Bystial Magnamhut", "Tempest, Dragon Ruler of Storms", "Blue-Eyes Abyss Dragon", "Draconnection", "Ahrima, the Wicked Warden", "Chaos Zone", and other generic searchers.
- Since this card is hard to search to the hand, send it to the Graveyard instead with cards like "Foolish Burial", "Dragon Ravine" or "Armageddon Knight".
- Since you have to pay half your Life Points to Summon this card, your Life Points will likely end up being lower than your opponent's, so you can use "Megamorph" on it for a 10000 ATK monster.
- Follow up on this combo with "Shooting Star Bow - Ceal" for an OTK.
- You can make an OTK with "Black Rose Dragon", "Malefic Stardust Dragon" and "Megamorph". Just be aware for cards like "My Body as a Shield" or "Starlight Road".
- If you have this card in your hand, you can discard it for cards like "Lightning Vortex", "Dark World Lightning" or "Dark World Dealings", because it can also be Special Summoned from the Graveyard by its own effect.
- Use this card with "Twin Swords of Flashing Light - Tryce" to destroy all of your opponents monsters and attack directly with 4500 attack in the same turn.
- Alternatively, you can use cards like "Hammer Shot" or "Dark Hole" to destroy your own "Malefic" monster during your turn to bring this card out easily. (If so, you can equip this card with "Twin Swords of Flashing Light - Tryce" for a OTK.)
- You can gain back half the Life Points you spent to Summon this monster by using "Life Absorbing Machine". Using two will heal the entire cost a turn later.
- Activating "Ante" while you have this card in your hand is a surefire way to rob your opponent of a card from their hand, as well as inflict 1000 damage to them, as they almost certainly won't have a Level 12 monster in their hand to match yours.
- Combo this card with "Battle Mania" to force your opponents monsters to attack it. After the first monster is destroyed, the rest will be destroyed by this monsters effect, leaving your opponent exposed for a direct attack during your turn.
- "Skill Drain" can also be used (when your opponent has many monsters in play) to negate "Truth Dragon's" effect and force all monsters to attack it, likely causing massive damage if not an OTK.
- An easy way to get this card out is by playing another Field Spell while you control another one and another "Malefic" monster. Since playing a new Field Spell will destroy the old one, the "Malefic" monster will destroy itself because of its card effect, which means you can summon a "Malefic Truth Dragon", which won't destroy itself because a Field Spell Card is in play.
- A fast way to summon this card is to have any Field Spell that isn't "Malefic World" on the field, and Synchro Summon "Malefic Paradox Dragon". As it is the only Malefic monster that requires a specific Field Spell, once Synchro Summoned, another Synchro Monster gets Special Summoned by its effect, and "Malefic Paradox Dragon" gets destroyed by its own effect, allowing you to Special Summon this card.
- When your opponent summons a monster and you control a "Malefic" Monster, activate "Torrential Tribute" for total field dominance.
- This card's ability to destroy all face-up monsters your opponent has out reaches its full potential if you also control a "Dark Simorgh". As you would need a "Malefic" to Summon this card, "Dark Simorgh" can be added into a deck like this easily. With "Dark Simorgh" preventing your opponent setting traps or monsters, and this card destroying all monsters, your opponent will be left wide open.
- This card's monster destruction effect works well with "Ojama Trio", allowing you to deal 300 points of damage for each Token destroyed.
- Combo this card with "Coffin Seller" and "Dark Room of Nightmare" to inflict 600 damage for each monster sent to your opponent's Graveyard by this card's effect.
- Equip this card with "Fairy Meteor Crush" or "Big Bang Shot" since there are very few monsters with 5000 or more DEF.
Traditional Format[edit]
- This card works well in a "Cyberdark" Deck, where it can be sent to the Graveyard by "Future Fusion" so it can be equipped to "Cyberdark Dragon" for a monster with a minimum of 6000 ATK.
