Forum:Anti-Meta Beast help?

Looking over the decks I've been looking at building, I was drawn to Anti-Meta Wanghu for a while, but I'm completely flummoxed as to what to try with it; at first, I thought about going with the original Wanghu/Burden of the Mighty combo, but I've been told that's too slow. T.G. Wanghu sounded good, but I was having trouble getting a hold of the T.G. monsters, back when it was hot. Then I got some of the tins that had Solemn Warning and Pot of Duality in them and a bunch of Photon Shockwaves for my birthday, and I managed to pull two of each of the former cards and a trio of Photon Sabre Tigers, and I fell in love with them; I could see them being awesome in my deck, but I was still on the fence on which deck I wanted to do. Then Flame Tiger came out, and I found a thread on Pojo talking about a new version of the deck dealing with all three tigers (mostly around Flame Tiger, but it used Wanghu and Sabre Tiger pretty much, as well), and I was sold. Thing is, I'm confused with all of the suggestions they had for it; stuff like Ape Fighter (which I'm not able to get, right now, due to my budget) and a heavy emphasis on Xyzs... it's a bit overwhelming.

So, I turn to you guys; I managed to get what i think is the basic skeleton of the deck in question, but maybe I'm wrong. To make things worse, there's been talk of different variations to it, like Rabbit Flame Tiger, or full Beast Flame Tiger, so I'm not sure if I want to try any of them. Can you guys help me out, here? Thanks. Vorpal Storm Pony (talkcontribs) 22:45, October 5, 2012 (UTC)

The core of the Beast Stun deck has always been 3 King Tiger Wanghu and 3 Horn of the Phantom Beast. After that, people generally build other stuff into the deck to help with consistency or to add more stun. There's nothing wrong with you using Flame Tiger and Photon Sabre Tiger, there's nothing truly wrong with them. My only suggestion to help bolster the monster line-up would be to add in 3 Flamvell Firedog to summon Flame Tiger quickly, and 2-3 Thunder King Rai-Oh (OR if you can't get that Gene-Warped Warwolf). Those cards help to add in a lot of bite and stun to the deck, but are fairly cheap cards overall.
Here's a sample decklist from a TCGPlayer, just click these words!

Hmm, I saw that a while back. A lot of the cards in it are just too expensive for me. My roommate does have a few Flamvell Firedogs, but one, I don't feel comfortable shoehorning cards meant for other archetypes in this deck, and two, I've already borrowed a ton of cards from him, and don't feel like pressing the issue with him. I had a few Gene-Warped Warwolves, but I traded them away, and I've never met anyone else with a series of them for trade, so I'm going to have to pass on that.
I was thinking of putting in Skill Drain or some Xyzs in here, but I'm not convinced it's such a good idea. I'm also tempted to try the Rescue Rabbit version, considering it's coming out in the next tins, but again, don't want to shoehorn archetypes into this deck, and besides that, the Evolzars are too expensive for me. It's very easy to summon Rank 4 Monster Cards with this Deck, you should use them, even the common/easy-to-get ones.
Another option until you get better cards is "Chain Dog"; it's easy to revive, allows Rank 4 summons, and won't be banished if used as a Xyz Material. --Missign0 (talkcontribs) 15:01, October 6, 2012 (UTC)
I do have a full compliment of Chain Dogs, but to be honest... I'm not sure if I want to go the Xyz-spam route for this deck. I mean, yeah, I have the Xyzs from the tins, and I have a few other Xyzs that I traded for (like Utopia and Papilloperative), but I never really felt comfortable with an Extra deck, and although I love the Xyz gimmick more than the Synchro gimmick of 5D's, I'm not sure if I want to go that route with this deck. I think that's why I was drawn toward this kind of deck; I heard it's not as dependent on the Extra Deck as others are, and can do just fine without it, if you don't want one. You don't need an extra deck to function, but without better Beast-Warriors/Beast monsters, then you'll kinda need that Xyz Line-up to fall back on when things get to tough to handle. I mean if you want to list all the cards that are Beast/Beast-Warrior that you do have, then we might be able to help a bit more. ---Dark Ace SP (Talk) 01:12, October 7, 2012 (UTC)

Just off the top of my head, I have...

  • Beast King Barbaros x3
  • Reborn Tengu x2
  • Chain Dog x3
  • Uniflora x3
  • Indomitable Fighter Lei Lei x3
  • Exarion Universe x3
  • Manticore of Darkness x3
  • Pitch-Black Warwolf x3
  • Vorse Raider x3
  • Mad Dog of Darkness x3
  • Guard Dog x2
  • Whirlwind Weasel x2
  • Super-Nimble Mega Hamster x3
  • Hunter of Black Feathers x2
  • Hane-Hane x3
  • Dark Cat with White Tail x3
  • Almost all of the Phantom Beast monsters x3
  • The full set of Moja-related monsters x3 (these were tough to get)
  • Green Baboon x2
  • Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter x3
  • Akz, the Pumer x2
  • Minoan Centaur x2

I also have:

  • Beast Rising x2
  • Spiritual Forest x2
  • Super Rush Recklessly x3
  • Skill Drain x3
  • Burden of the Mighty x3

These are just what I know I have, laying around, so I'm not quite sure what to do. I see some potential decks in this mishmash (like combining Guard Dog, Weasel, Ryko, and Hamter with Sabre Tiger into an anti-metal beast flip deck), but it's rather hard for me to commit to any one of them. Beast King Barbaros and Reborn Tengu, should probably go in, BKB is must, Tengu is a preference. --Dark Ace SP (Talk) 13:28, October 7, 2012 (UTC)

Barbaros is more fitting a Skill Drain deck, and I'm not sure if I want to go that route with this deck. I've found, when I tried to build a prototype deck with these cards, that I seemed to do much better just using the tigers to beat down the opponent than using any actual Extra deck or Skill Drain shenanigans, bizarrely. That's why I'm iffy on using an Extra Deck; my luck invariably eschews any use I'd get out of it for what I have in my main deck, for some reason. Beast King Barbaros was really just to be a beater, that's really all you need him for. ---Dark Ace SP (Talk) 19:45, October 7, 2012 (UTC)
True, but now, not even your standard Tiger Anti-Meta uses him, anymore, instead shoving him off to Barbaros Ur Skill Drain decks and replacing him with Ape Fighter (which I only have one of, thanks to my roommate getting Duel Transer a while back). I actually do have a couple of Barbaros Urs, and I'd like to eventually build a deck around him, so with those two facts in place, I'm not convinced Barbaros in this deck is such a good idea.
On the other hand, looking at my options, I've got three or four variations I'm looking at trying out, but a few of them have their own decks that I could potentially make out of them; I could use Rescue Rabbit with it, I could use the Moja engine with it, I can try to get the cards for a T.G. engine for it, or I can try to go flip Beast Stun with it. I'm most leaning toward the last one, but with how fickle the flip cards will be in this deck, especially with keeping them on the field long enough for Xyzing, I doubt I'll be able to utilize any good Extra Deck cards in it. My issue is that, with the three tigers being my only beatsticks in this deck, if I go that route, how I'll be able to overcome some of the more powerful monsters out there. Okay, so after a lot of deliberating, this is the deck I'm thinking of using. I haven't tested it out, yet, but I've heard decent things about the Hamster/Weasel/Dog combo, so I'm curious how well it'll work here. My question is, should I ditch the Feather of the Phoenixes for a third Guard Dog/Whirlwind Weasel, or not? Vorpal Storm Pony (talkcontribs) 14:30, October 9, 2012 (UTC)
