Forum:Call of the Haunted vs Light and Darkness Dragon

Hello,

Quick questions if I may,

1. It's my turn and I have a set trap on my side of the field (set the turn previous) and a face-up Rose, Warrior of Revenge. My opponent had a face up attack position Dandylion and Light and Darkness Dragon. I attack his face up Dandylion and when it goes to the graveyard its effect activates and is now negated, Can I chain to the negation and use my call of the haunted to return a card from my graveyard and than synchro summon?

2. If I Thunder King rai oh my opponents Mobius the frost monarch or battle fader, does the effect still go off? or is the summoning negated so there is no effect.

3. Also what is the speed of a monsters effect? i.e. d.d. crow. If I activate Call of the haunted can my opponent respond by playing d.d crow on my target thus destroying my call of the haunted?

4. Can I use stardusts ability during the battle phase? as long as it isn't during damage calculation?

Thank you in advance.

- 1. Yes, you can.I don't see why not.

- 2. I can't see why you can negate Mobius' summon since it needs to be tribute summoned than be SS'd to trigger its effect. But I do see that "Battle Fader" can be negated.

- 3. Just look at the ruling to know an effects' spell speed. The answer is that they can use "D.D. Crow" because it's spell speed 2 but the CofH won't summon anything nor be destroyed (it just occupies meaninglessly).

- 4. Yes, you can.

Just to clarify,

1) The effect of Rose, Warrior of Revenge will activate first during Sub-step 5 of the Damage Step so it will be negated by LaDD. At this point, you can activate Spell Speed 3 effects like Divine Wrath or Quick Effects like Herald of Perfection. However, you cannot activate Call of the Haunted during the Damage Step. If you do negate and destroy LaDD, then the effect of Dandylion wil activate during Sub-step 7 of the Damage Step. You can only Synchro Summon during the Main Phase, unless with cards like Urgent Tuning. Please read more on the Breakdown of the Battle Phase page.

2) ??? Thunder King Rai-Oh can only negate Inherent Special Summons. Mobius is usually Normal Summoned and it has no Summoning Conditions that Special Summons itself. Battle Fader's special summon is not an Inherent Special Summon, it is caused by its effect.

3) The effect of D.D. Crow is a Quick Effect which is Spell Speed 2. The scenario that SilentHero26 described only happens when you target the same monster that your opponent is trying the special summon with the effect of Call of the Haunted.

4) The effect of Stardust Dragon is a Quick Effect which can be activated during anytime that the activation requirement is met, even during Damage Calculation.-- HHTurtle Talk   18:21, September 17, 2010 (UTC)
