Forum:Cards in Damage Step + Scrap Dragon Q

1. Ok so I know of the list of cards that can be activated during the damage step, where it includes mandatory trigger effects, but what about optional trigger effects? Mother Grizzley and the like obviously would activate because they specify by battle, but what about stuff like Black Brutdrago and Crystal Release (when the equipped monster is destroyed by battle). Some other cards (Evo-Price) stipulate "except during the damage step", but Athena has pretty much the same wording but without that stipulation. Why? Perhaps I'm just thinking too hard about these things?

2. Say I summon a Scrap Dragon, and my opponent takes him with his Relinquished. I then use MST to destroy said Scrap Dragon, does that count as being destroyed by an opponent's card effect, so I would summon a Scrap monster from my graveyard?

3. Is there room for chains between battles in the battle phase? Say I have 3 Gem-Knight Citrines, and my opponent has 2 Six Samurais with a face-down Dual Wield. I attack and kill one of the Six Sams, say after that first one dies, is there room for him to activate Dual Wield to send the other two back, or do things move right onto the next attack declaration? 1) For monsters, if it's an Optional Trigger Effect it can be activated, except if it is one that Triggers in the hand (e.g. Meklord Emperor Wisel).
Crystal Release works. I think the pattern for Spell/Traps is, if it Triggers because of something happening to itself, it works. If it Triggers to something happening to another card, it does not work.
2) See Forum:Scrap dragon spec sum eff
3) For the defending player, no. Unless the attacking player starts a chain before their next attack.
But they can use Six Style - Dual Wield during Attack Declaration anyways.

1. That clears up a lot of things, thanks! Also since hand effects can't activate, that includes Interplanetarypurplythorny Dragon too? (if so, sadface because i love that card)
2. All good.
3. Well, Citrine's effect is that the opponent can't activate any cards or effects if he declares an attack, so he wouldn't be able to activate Dual Wield at attack declaration?

Interplanetarypurplythorny Dragon says it works if a monster is destroyed by battle, so it overrides that.
I didn't notice Gem-Knight Citrine, in that case, you can't. If it was a monster without that effect then you can.
After the attack ends, the turn player has Priority (Fast Effect Timing) to either activate something or attack. So the opponent can't activate anything.

Similar to the situation of "Fortune Lady Light" when she leaves the field. Is that wrong, Falzar? --iFredCat 00:16, January 16, 2013 (UTC)
Fortune Lady Light can be activated during the Damage Step.

I am aware of that, but I meant by missing the timing... --iFredCat 00:28, January 16, 2013 (UTC)
